Even though I was technically part of the IT department, I worked in another department and really didn't interact much with the "problem" but I still had to be interviewed, sit in on "team-building" meetings and all the usual B.S. After a couple months of this I bailed on the company and looked for another job.

I once worked in the IT department of a much larger company. IT was considered to be a "problem" department and so consultants were hired to come in and reorganize things.
Ha! Five years after I wrote that, my current workplace is bringing a consultant in tomorrow. Other programmers were supposedly told to "put on a unified happy face" but no one told me about it.
