There's no way I'd use that. Stick to slsk or DC++ (or WASTE if you're lucky enough to get hooked up in a WASTE ring), or if you know how to (I don't) IRC and newsgroups.
I guess the RIAA/MPAA risk can't possibly be more than with torrents, but the lengths most p2p programs to to install tons of spyware and adware on your computer is really astounding.

Slsk is proving to be useless for re-obtaining all the music making software that I lost when I had to reinstall my OS recently. Will check the other things

music making software: get DC++, search the public hub list for "audio" or "vst" or whatever; the 3-4 hubs you get will have everything you need guaranteed and at great speeds (depending on who you connect to, of course).

DC++ is nice but the better hubs require a large share.

I managed to find a waste ring elsewhere so I am on the verge of getting into that. I'll be checking DC++ if needs be....
