Tom E. in Seattle / EMP Conference / April 2005

After a huge amount of umming and ahhing I got some good financial news this morning and I will be coming to the USA in the middle of April. To be honest I was going anyway whether I could afford it or not but I was procrastinating starting the thread in case disaster struck.

I've not sorted out flights/hotels yet so don't exactly know how long I'll be over for - at least 4 or 5 days, maybe a week. I'll use my amazing admin powers to change this text when I know the details.

The pretext for this is the Experience Music Project conference, the mighty M.Matos having very kindly invited me to be on a panel on blogging and music writing. I am a bit nervous about looking like a big fool in front of a thousand proper critics but that's for a different thread really.

Anyway, I have no good idea who does and doesn't live in Seattle but if you do then I'd love to have a beer with you. Or if you're coming to the EMP conference.

This is actually the first time I've been to the States. In fact it's the first time I've been outside Europe. So you can expect hopelessly naive newbie-style questions on this thread too.

It's all very exciting :)

"ewing's notions of the panel format were swiftly disabused"

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 17 March 2005 11:07 (twenty years ago)

Here is my first naive question:

Do Nintendo DS-es bought in the States work with UK software, or will there be specification issues or something? I was thinking of taking advantage of the generous exchange rate.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 17 March 2005 11:13 (twenty years ago)

killer--can't WAIT. (also Tom if you need a place to stay my apartment is right across the street from EMP and is yours for the asking.)

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Thursday, 17 March 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

the Nintendo question might be answered by donut debonair, who also lives in Seattle.

obviously we need to have a big ol' Seattle FAP after the conference is through (or before it begins) since the conference itself is pretty time-consuming (and loads of fun!), and it would only be right to have an evening of Tom-centered reverie outside of it.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Thursday, 17 March 2005 11:25 (twenty years ago)

Portlanders and/or Vancouverites who can make it down for the conference (or the FAP) should try and do so, this should be really good.

also, Dave Q is going to try to make it to the Pop Conference as well.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Thursday, 17 March 2005 11:26 (twenty years ago)

The idea of Jess and Dave Q in the same place makes my heart leap with joy.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 17 March 2005 11:35 (twenty years ago)

oh you have no idea how happy this whole thing is making me

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Thursday, 17 March 2005 11:36 (twenty years ago)

And how jealous I am! (The slight possibility that I could make it has been set aside due to other but equally cool plans involving friends from overseas -- in this case the cool dudes o' Jennifer Gentle on their first West Coast tour, whose dates in SoCal are the same weekend -- but I shall be there in spirit. :-) )

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 11:49 (twenty years ago)

Nintendo DSes are region-free. Buy up!

'haitch' (haitch), Thursday, 17 March 2005 11:56 (twenty years ago)

oh you have no idea how happy this whole thing is making me

is there transcripts of the conference and stuff available after it?

it's a stellar line-up.

cozen (Cozen), Thursday, 17 March 2005 12:49 (twenty years ago)

Is there going to be another book, like This is Pop?

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 17 March 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

Transcribe the pub talk.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 13:24 (twenty years ago)

word.

strongo hulkington, Thursday, 17 March 2005 13:25 (twenty years ago)

Tom how bout a New York City stop-over? so you can check out another great U.S. city on your first visit (if you have extra vacation/ time)

Paul (scifisoul), Thursday, 17 March 2005 19:20 (twenty years ago)

YES! You have no idea how much this relieves me.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Friday, 18 March 2005 01:25 (twenty years ago)

Oh, uh, I'm going to be there as well.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Friday, 18 March 2005 01:26 (twenty years ago)

Also, I demand karaoke be involved somehow.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Friday, 18 March 2005 01:41 (twenty years ago)

you should turn the panel into an impromptu musical!!

"let's do the show right here!"

mark s (mark s), Friday, 18 March 2005 01:43 (twenty years ago)

I just got back from a great time in SF, only to feel all bouncy about Seattle again. I might actually become a Pokemon character in mid April, from all this bounciness.

Tom, nothing to fear... if anything, you'll probably find the weather here very familiar, if maybe slightly less grey given the odd winter we've been having.

donut debonair (donut), Friday, 18 March 2005 02:18 (twenty years ago)

though i won't be in or around the conference, i would love to be informed of any extracurricular get-togethers so that i might hang out with y'all

ronny longjohns (ronny longjohns), Friday, 18 March 2005 02:42 (twenty years ago)

you should turn the panel into an impromptu musical!!

It is not impromptu if we plan ahead. And we would have only a mere month to assemble our hand puppets.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Friday, 18 March 2005 04:26 (twenty years ago)

I no longer remember what dates these are. I utterly can't afford to attend the festival though I'm sure it would be lovely; I am not sure whether I'll able to be in Seattle that weekend, because I'm doing a lot of travelling in early April. (If it's the weekend of the 9th, though, my band might be playing a show at ILX's own lovely Donna B's pad, so etc., etc.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 18 March 2005 05:35 (twenty years ago)

Alright, alright, I'm there. Any Vancouverites need a ride? Dave Q get at me, foo!

Also, how crazy is it at the border right now, scrutiny-wise? I'd wanna bring a little something something over but I don't need a bust in my life right now. It's mainly the indo I'm worried about - I need a volunteer mule!

LeCoq (LeCoq), Friday, 18 March 2005 09:59 (twenty years ago)

you won't need to bring any over--trust me on this.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Friday, 18 March 2005 10:37 (twenty years ago)

I was half thinking of hosting a DJing party at my place as well... I know my neighbors wouldn't mind. My floor neighbor is a(n occasional) stoner, and my above neighbors have too much bad cred to want to piss me off *wink wink* Although I have to admit I would not be into the little something something or other happening at my place, personally... (I'm a tight-ass that way, sorry guys)

although I'm not as centrally located as Matos's place (though not that far by any means.) Hmmm, I would offer to lend my tables if someone with a car would be willing to transport them. it would just be a matter of someone providing the P.A... then again, not sure how cool Matos's neighbors are.

donut debonair (donut), Friday, 18 March 2005 10:59 (twenty years ago)

i'm very seriously considering getting there for this. are there any cheap & recommended places to stay?

f--gg (gcannon), Friday, 18 March 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

Bah, I should not read this thread any more, my jealousy will grow to undreamed of heights!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 March 2005 13:24 (twenty years ago)

If you feel bad, Ned, you can easily household remedy yourself with a belt, a Bic, a spoon, and that special little neighboorhood bird named HERON!!! Yay HERON!!!

btw, the cost of attending the full conference is $20. no joke. originally it was $55 but they've cut it down for some reason. participants have to pay as well, btw.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Monday, 21 March 2005 06:57 (twenty years ago)

hip hip hooray for tom on his magical seattle appearance day/week! i will see you there!

i'm afraid that in my world, that is a joke.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 21 March 2005 11:49 (twenty years ago)

(in Alan Sugar The Apprentice-style authoritative don't-try-it voice)

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 21 March 2005 11:51 (twenty years ago)

$20 is a bit closer to my price range! Now to figure out which weekend it is.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 21 March 2005 18:29 (twenty years ago)

Any weekend. It's a movable feast.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 21 March 2005 18:30 (twenty years ago)

EMP always reads as "Emergency Management Protocol" for me. Go to the Comet and drink a pitcher for me, ok?

aimurchie (aimurchie), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 10:52 (twenty years ago)

all right, U.S.E. is playing the Vera Project on the 15th and 16th. I CALL U.S.E. CONCERT FAP!

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Thursday, 24 March 2005 00:34 (twenty years ago)

OH FUCKING FUCK JUST RUB IT IN WHY DON'T YOU. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 01:17 (twenty years ago)

Do that FAP on the 15th- I'm DJing on the 16th in Seattle at the David Grubbs / David Thomas show and I was going to encourage y'all to pop by

Drew Daniel (Drew Daniel), Thursday, 24 March 2005 01:20 (twenty years ago)

I think Friday and Saturday are settled then. (Drew, where's the Grubbs/Thomas show at?)

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 24 March 2005 07:20 (twenty years ago)

Oh fuck I am so there. Get ready to die.

LeCoq (LeCoq), Thursday, 24 March 2005 09:29 (twenty years ago)

Who are USE?

(I am happy to be dragged along to anything you think is fun of course. I will be gawking like a wide-eyed tourist all weekend anyway!)

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 24 March 2005 09:53 (twenty years ago)

U.S.E. = United State of Electronica, the most ILXoriest band of all time. they're great, you'll love 'em!

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Thursday, 24 March 2005 18:55 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, Tom, I'll be DAMNED surprised if you even slightly dislike USE! They are the spiff. :-) Do enjoy!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 March 2005 19:13 (twenty years ago)

Wait...which weekend is this again? I have some vacation time I neec to use next month and I want to see the Koolhaas building...

Great, Brave, True, Strong, Great, Real, Wise, Great...adam levine (nordicskilla, Thursday, 24 March 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

hi :)

you won't find me over there. i just lurk around here mostly. actually i thought this conference thing had already happened, but it's good that i'm wrong.

ronny longjohns (ronny longjohns), Monday, 11 April 2005 03:22 (twenty years ago)

Beer/alcohol will be available at all these restaurants and shows except for the U.S.E. show at the Vera Project, which is all ages.. so it's soda and candy for you... which somehow makes it more appropriate.

donut debonair (donut), Monday, 11 April 2005 05:40 (twenty years ago)

Hmm... well the keynote address on Thursday night ends at 9pm, and the Thomas/Grubbs/Daniel show starts at 9:30pm or so... maybe it's best to grab some food at Pagliacci then cab over to Ballard in bunches? (Ballard's the neighborhood where the Sunset Tavern is.. just north and west of Queen Anne, not too far, will take minutes if the driver takes Denny way --> 15th ave NW, ballard bridge, etc.)

We can definitely plan for an earlier dinner before the U.S.E. show on Saturday... the Monorail takes you just a block away from the Vera Project and runs 'til 7pm on weeknights.. (also, it's just cool to take the monorail from the EMP to downtown anyway) maybe an early dinner in Belltown somewhere... Noodle Ranch maybe?.. at 5pm sounds good? (I'd say the Pike Place brewery but the wait might be long for a big party.. Noodle Ranch isn't usually that busy)

Not sure if any of us will have the energy to want to see a show on Saturday night, so there's always that night too. I'm more than willing to forsake that free show (even if it's the Electric Six) if it means we need to mega-FAP somewhere....

donut debonair (donut), Monday, 11 April 2005 05:57 (twenty years ago)

Granted, I'm making an assumption that people will want to go see the David Thomas/David Grubbs w/ DJ Drew show at the Sunset Tavern... again, I'll gladly lead the pack for anyone who wants to see that show -- and anyone else can figure something else out nearby if they want to do something else.

Same assumption about the U.S.E. show as well, i guess.

I'm thinking Saturday night should be a big final hurrah FAP if any.

Again, I'm just one guy making suggestions. Matos, Kate, etc. feel free to interject..

donut debonair (donut), Monday, 11 April 2005 06:06 (twenty years ago)

no mention of thai tom

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 11 April 2005 07:37 (twenty years ago)

From my POV I'm happy with whatever shows people want to go to but I'm plump and lazy, so sitting around drinking beer and chatting is definitely a priority too. I guess there will be plenty of that whatever happens.

I get in at 18.48 on the Wednesday and will go straight to my hotel. I don't want to fall straight asleep though or I'll never adjust to Seattle-time so if anyone's around for some quick food or a swift beer I'd be delighted (if somewhat zombiefied company). Then on Thursday I'm going to be Mr.Tourist (recommendations welcome) and then I guess we meet at the opening party thing on the Thursday and take it from there. Do I need a secret handshake or anything?

Tom (Groke), Monday, 11 April 2005 08:42 (twenty years ago)

dude, there's a MONORAIL!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 11 April 2005 08:53 (twenty years ago)

seattle is a lot of fun, tom, you should like it

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 11 April 2005 09:16 (twenty years ago)

Tom, get in touch w/me whenever you feel settled into the hotel and we can meet up. I'll probably need to call it an early-ish night--I suspect I'll still have lots of work to do both for SW and the Conference--but there should be plenty of us around.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Monday, 11 April 2005 10:49 (twenty years ago)

oh yeah, my flight gets in on thurs at 10 am, then i have some bidness to attend to, and then i'll be wandering the streets like a mangy dog until check-in. (i have to miss sunday too, damn these 10 hour transcontinental flights.)

strng hlkngtn, Monday, 11 April 2005 11:16 (twenty years ago)

I'm up for a Wednesday night thing as well... I wonder how late Thai Tom is open on weeknights.. (although I don't know if Thai Tom is a good or bad idea for someone arriving across the Atlantic on little sleep... nothing to do with the food, more with the crowded, energetic environment. It's not really "chill" in there, per se.)

And yes, there is a monorail: http://www.seattlemonorail.com/
It's only useful to those who want to go between central downtown and the EMP. It's quick, but there are plenty of buses that will do the trick as well.. namely the 16, the 3, and the 4 (3 and 4 overlap a lot) -- amongst many more that get you close enough, too. The buses run a lot later and earlier though, than the monorail currently does. The monorail won't go back to regular hours until the end of this month (until 11pm at nights.. due to that fire from last fall.)

donut debonair (donut), Monday, 11 April 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

It's quick, but there are plenty of buses that will do the trick as well.

BUT THEY'RE NOT MONORAILS, ARE THEY? NO!

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Monday, 11 April 2005 16:06 (twenty years ago)

Tom, you could walk to the EMP from your place... it will involve a rather cementish, non-scenic walk on Broad St. going under a few streets for about 10-15 minutes at the most, but then you're there.

I don't recommend trying to stumble home completely drunk on this street though, as the cars do tend to zoom there, and sidewalk is a bit narrow. Take Mercer to Westlake instead in case you feel shifty and buzzed..slightly longer walk but safer. heh heh.

Also, Tom is very close to Bucca De Bepo!

BUT THEY'RE NOT MONORAILS, ARE THEY? NO!

AND THEY'RE NO ANNE MURRAY!

donut debonair (donut), Monday, 11 April 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

NOTHING IS ANNE MURRAY UNTIL WE SAY IT IS.

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Monday, 11 April 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

Yeah from the crappy map on the hotel website it looked walkable.

I don't want to say up too late on Wednesday. In terms of food I like everything really, though I'm definitely on the carnivorous side.

I don't know if I'll have a mobile or not by the way, but I can ring people from the hotel on Weds if I have their numbers.

donut debonair (donut), Monday, 11 April 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

Buca De Beppo in Washington State. Click on the directions for the Seattle location.. I think the map targets almost exactly where Tom is staying.

Bucca De Bepo is a national chain of family-style Italian restaurants (started in Minneapolis). Half-size portions of anything are usually the size of small toddlers. So, we probably won't have to order much. And there is wine that can be ordered too, by the jug. With enough people, I think we could get a decent crowd. Reservations may have to be made though. And yes Tom, there's plenty of carnivorous friendly items there... maybe this place is too ambitious? I chose it mainly because it's practically in Tom's hotel's backyard.

donut debonair (donut), Monday, 11 April 2005 16:23 (twenty years ago)

no, for a group thing it's perfect.

yo, seattle-types, what is the quickest way to get downtown from sea-tac? a bus? does anyone have any idea how much a cab would be, roughly? (keep in mind i'm gonna need to leave on sat night/sunday morning around 4-5am.)

(i am actually in kind of a bad mood, re. travel, because since i waited/had to wait so long to get my ticket, i now have to fly out of nyc and pay about $150 more than i planned, plus tack an extra five or six hours on.)

strng hlkngtn, Tuesday, 12 April 2005 02:01 (twenty years ago)

I take the Gray Line Airport Express bus most of the time. Picks up at either end of the baggage claim level. roundtrip $17
http://graylineseattle.com/airportexpress1.cfm

That might not work when you leave, though, since it starts up after 5 AM. If you take a cab from the downtown area to the airport, ask for the $25 fixed price rate "from the downtown hotel district to the airport". All taxis have to offer that rate. If it was 4 AM and you were lucky, you might be able to save money by going by the meter, but it would only be a few bucks. The fixed price is nearly always a better deal. Also a good deal if you have more than 1 person.

You can also catch a Metro bus up to downtown, much cheaper but much slower, will drop you in the bus tunnel. They pick up right from the northern end of the baggage claim area.

lyra (lyra), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 02:35 (twenty years ago)

Here's something on the airport metro bus service:
http://transit.metrokc.gov/tops/bus/flymetro.html

lyra (lyra), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 02:40 (twenty years ago)

Jess, all that info I provided for you on the ILM thread in super excelsior mode.. re: getting from SeaTac to downtown and all that.

When are you arriving? It can cost you as little as $2.00 to get to downtown from SeaTac... getting back (4-5am?) is a different question though...

And Sunday morning? yikes, you picked to the one hour of the day on the one day of the week that's a sure deadzone for public transit. Go with Lyra's advice on fixed price cab. (Also, the bus tunnel doesn't operate on Sundays, anyway, but it wouldn't matter)

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 06:11 (twenty years ago)

Also, that page that Lyra links to tells lies. the 194 bus (the one you want) runs every 15 minutes in the 8am to 6pm hours on weekdays... it runs every half hour outside that.

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 06:13 (twenty years ago)

(No offense to Lyra of course..! it's the King County Metro webmaster's fault for being a lazy ass)

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 06:14 (twenty years ago)

I'm probably driving down with Shmool, Dave Q and Danny Bastard from Flash Bastard - ah well I guess I'll just ball out on a room and whoever wants to crash can crash yeah nigga - got an exam on the 15th so I'll be arriving that night, take or leave.

LeCoq (LeCoq), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

donut bitch, you are hero of the conference!

i have taken that grey line thingee before, and i just re-checked my ticket and i dont fly out until 8:30 sunday am, so i might be able to do it.

strng hlkngtn, Tuesday, 12 April 2005 10:41 (twenty years ago)

Donut can you let me know your phone # - freakytrigger at gmail dot com. I will probably make my way to Buca De Beppo as soon as I've booked in, showered and changed so (fingers crossed) half 8 to 9?

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 14:18 (twenty years ago)

Sounds good. I'll call Bucca Di Beppo and see if I can make a reservation. I'm sure Matos is in, I'm in, Tom is in... anyone else?

Tom, I'll email you my number right now.

Also, THINGS TO DO in Seattle... Grab the 17 bus to downtown Seattle (link to the 17 schedule is above. Surely the hotel folks should have bus schedules for the 17 handy, but who knows.) which comes from Westlake Ave N from the North, and swerves onto 9th Ave., which is right where you are staying. Just go to the bus stop that says "17" on it, and have a buck and a quarter ready. (or maybe two quarters if you're going before 9am.. peak hour fares, you know.). The 17 bus will take you to downtown.

Go towards the waterfront in downtown on Pike st. and you can have some fun at Pike Place Market for a while.. lots of things to see and eat.. Chipotle Cheese curds at the cheese shop is a must.

Also, on 4th Ave. and Spring is the Seattle Pubic Library. Get lost in it.

If you want to have a beer and play video games, there's Shorty's on 2nd. between Bell and Blanchard in Belltown...

Eventually you'll want to get to Lower Queen Anne by late afternoon or so, at the latest. Grab the Monorail (Pine and 5th ave., go to the 3rd floor). It's a $1.50 ride, but it will take you straight to the EMP. If you walk through the food court area and then head north (there's a big hill with houses on it to the north, let this be your Queen Anne compass), you'll end up near Cafe Zingado, Larry's Market, Easy Street Records, Racha, Twice Sold Tales (where Morley Timmons works!), Pagliacci, etc.

(You can also grab a 3, 4, or 16 on 3rd st. standing on the east side by a bus stop with those numbers listed. They all stop right by the EMP, too.)

I think the initial meetup starts at 5:15pm at the EMP for the conference... right?

Anyway, hope this helps.

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 16:39 (twenty years ago)

(*ahem* Seattle Public Library)

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 16:41 (twenty years ago)

hey, how does one get between seattle and vancouver? like how long does it take and how much is it? i have to go to vancouver, but the flight to seattle is way cheaper. wonder if i could save money that way

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

You can take an Amtrak Canadian Trailways bus and/or Amtrak Cascade train round trip to Vancouver (B.C.) to/from Seattle for around $40-$50US? A lot of my friends in Vancouver often opt to fly out of SeaTac airport and just take a bus/train down.
http://www.amtrak.com

There's also a Quickshuttle service between downtown Vancouver and SeaTac airport too. There's a stop in South Lake Union in Seattle (right where Tom is staying, coincidentally) I think the price is similar...
http://www.quickcoach.com/

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 18:01 (twenty years ago)

Anyway, the bus takes about three hours, the train about four hours, each direction. Sure, you pay for the price of cheapness in time, however, if it's a day trip, you get the "Ooooh, beautiful scenery!" rebate. :)

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 18:03 (twenty years ago)

Talk more about the pubic library.

The king is in the kingdom to await his fate -- of the enemy. The pubic enemy.

donut debonair (donut), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 18:08 (twenty years ago)

Anyway, Phil, Amtrak is definitely cheaper I think, now that I had a look, but the disadvantage is.. you'll have to grab a bus from SeaTac airport to the King String Station in downtown Seattle too to get the Amtrak bus/train. It would only be an extra $2.00 each way (assuming you don't arrive at 4-5am or so), but it would be extra time, and more chugging along of baggage too, and more worrying about late buses/trains and making the airport on time, etc.

jet blue doesnt get into seattle until around 11, so i guess i'll have to spend the nite at a hostel or something, then catch the train up. the train sounds nicer though, i dont mind it being an extra hour. and i guess i wouldnt mind taking a peek at seattle. though i dont have an apartment in new york right now since the place i was going to move into, the previous tenant hasnt moved out yet, so the landlord has to evict him. so really i have plenty of time.

Why do I get the feeling ILX site traffic will totally bottom out for the duration of EMP? It'll be like me, Geir, and the Pinefox.

xpost to Phil

Well, if you get in at 11pm, you'd either have to take the longer, less scenic 174 bus (174 schedule here) for $2, or cab it (which should be $25 max.. see Lyra's comments above) to 2nd and Pine at the Green Tortoise (arrange in advance if you can). Then the next morning, grab any bus on 2nd ave. and ask if it goes to the King st. station (the bus ride should be free since it's within downtown), then head to the King St. station, grab train, etc.

The only problem is.. trains are often more late than planes, so add a LOT of padding between your train arrival back to Seattle, you're getting to SeaTac airport, and all that.

...

Nabisco, you're also forgetting startrekman, who'll probably ask this weekend what the bass sequencer was used on Animition's "Obsession"

People can stay at my house, which is nearly empty and therefore spacious. Totally, dude

Don't worry Nabisco, I'll be here...talking about parsnips, or something silly like that.

never change!

Phil, if you have time, then why don't you just stay in Seattle for another day or so -- especially since you've never been here? I'm sure someone would be willing to offer you a place to crash, saving you the cost of lodging and all that.

The weather this weekend in brief:

Chance of showers (meaning "we don't have a fucking clue")

Lows in the 40sF (4-8C), Highs in the 50sF (10-12C)

In short, Tom will feel right at home.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Tuesday, 12 April 2005 23:18 (twenty years ago)

Tom, Matos, and I just Bucca Di Beppo'd ourselves (myself a bit too much.. oog, too much cheesecake) in a little FAP that ended just minutes ago.

Eeeee! already, I'm starting to FEEL THE VOIB!

My abridged day at work tomorrow is going to feel mighty long before the reception.

(Oh yeah, many revelations about British vs. U.S. pop culture tonight, but most shockingly, the deceased of the Two Fat Ladies, shortly before being deceased, was a reactionary right-wing commentator!)

How is the conference? Are there any dinner plans for tomorrow?

That seems to be the case with all Brit celebs after a while.
