Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner ARE BACK.

Wait, Joel Silver is involved? RUN TO THE HILLS.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 15:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Joel Silver is also involved with Veronica Mars, so he is forgiven for all ills.

And wow, I never thought I'd be excited about a Wonder Woman movie. But I totally am. It'll be Jossy goodness.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 17 March 2005 15:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Lynda Carter was my first crush ever. There is no way this movie can trump her majesty.

Je4nne Ć’ury (Jeanne Fury), Thursday, 17 March 2005 15:34 (twenty-one years ago)

die, you Alien franchise ruining motherfucker

g-kit (g-kit), Thursday, 17 March 2005 15:39 (twenty-one years ago)

PLEASE CAST CORDELIA

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 17 March 2005 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Who the hell is Joss Whedon?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

*frowns* Are you being sarcastic or not or...?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

So he's some Buffy guy. I see.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I wasn't.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

No worries, I just thought with the huge Buffy lurv on the board you might have caught the name here or there! Yes, he's Mr. Buffy/Angel/Firefly plus various comix things and, as noted above, the guy who apparently killed off the Alien franchise in some corners.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha the Alien franchise was dead long before he touched that script (which is admittedly terrible.)

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Alien4 was a Whedon joint? I thought it was the French dude who loves Ron Perlman and also made Amelie & Delicatessen?
And Alien3 was that other guy, no?
What's the Whedon Alien nexus?

Huk-L, Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)

He wrote the script, but he walked offset halfway through with frustration at how it was being directed and rewritten.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

"he walked offset halfway through with frustration" + Joel Silver = THIS MIGHT NOT WORK.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Themyscira's Gate!

Huk-L, Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Whedon: "I want to create a female lead with some dimensions we haven't seen yet on the screen."

Silver: "You seen Fair Game, kid? Swordfish? I'm all 'bout them dimensions."

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

OMG HE'S ALSO PRODUCING V FOR VENDETTA

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

WITH NATALIE PORTMAN OMG IS THERE A THREAD ABOUT THIS

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

*plotzes*

I really really REALLY don't know what to think about that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

WITH NATALIE PORTMAN OMG IS THERE A THREAD ABOUT THIS

probably on ILComics.

Huk-L, Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:39 (twenty-one years ago)

started one here anyhow.

miccio (miccio), Thursday, 17 March 2005 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I agree with slocki, it would be ideal to cast Charisma Carpenter as Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman + Cordy goodness!

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

That is the best idea ever, though I misunderstood it as asking for Joss to cast Drusilla, which is the worst idea ever.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

This is going to be a trainwreck.

Leon the Fatboy (Ex Leon), Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

A trainwreck in star-spangled hotpants!

Huk-L, Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

WW the Movie: Pants or Hotpants?

Curious George Finds the Ether Bottle (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 17 March 2005 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Liv Tyler makes a good Wonder Woman.
True story.

Katie. (Argh.), Sunday, 20 March 2005 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, the joss whedon alien resurrection screenplay (which i read before the movie coming out, being the pathetic fanboy that i am) was actually a LOT better than the final product. it was really action-packed and comic book-y but the director mistook 'comic book-y' for 'camp' and made the turd (albeit a visually impressive turd) which now (dis)graces basic cable constantly.

latebloomer: damn cheapskate satanists (latebloomer), Sunday, 20 March 2005 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

(an no, it wasn't a pred ship;-)

latebloomer: damn cheapskate satanists (latebloomer), Sunday, 20 March 2005 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

also he described the alien baby as looking like a "translucent reindeer" and wrote a scene where it tried to have sex w/ ripley!!!

jones (actual), Sunday, 20 March 2005 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

he did mess up the end of buffy though :(

jones (actual), Sunday, 20 March 2005 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

he sure did. not entirely his fault though

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 20 March 2005 18:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't understand why everyone thinks Buffy went off the rails near the end. It was uneven, but it always was. ESPECIALLY during the vaunted first 3 seasons, which I think are mostly painfully unwatchable.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Sunday, 20 March 2005 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

my short answer: by the last season, the show's staff-writers and directors and cast (and probably co-producers and p.a.'s, who knows) had taken whedon's original idea and rolled it snowball-style into something so much more dynamic and odd that when he stepped back in to take charge for the last couple of episodes, he no longer quite knew what he was working with.

jones (actual), Sunday, 20 March 2005 23:32 (twenty-one years ago)

alien 4 >>>>>>>>> alien 3 (for what it's worth)

f--gg (gcannon), Monday, 21 March 2005 01:17 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
Can't help speculating that Whedon's big concept was lots of bondage scenes, like the original comic.

Soukesian (Soukesian), Saturday, 3 February 2007 12:23 (nineteen years ago)

Speaking as a Whedon fan, may I be the first to say: "phew, dodged a bullet!"
