I nearly fell off the bed laughing when they started talking about DOKTOR BENWAY - that was a great wink to Burroughs.

The "how to make a vagina" bits were one of the few bits on CSI that did actually make me squeamish. It takes a lot of forensics to ick me out, but that did it.

I was *really* hoping that Benway's husband would turn out to be a female to male cross-gender. Now that would have been the ultimate twist. But alas, no.

This is setting off a dim echo in the back of my brain, and I went googling to see if it's because I remember that as a particularly brilliant episode of the Equalizer -- but all I found was repetition of the IMDB listing, and all I'm left with is a phantom memory of Ewa Woowa barking out the name "Sarah McGee" all stacatto.

they had already used up that idea as a joke, kate: the black woman csi person whose name i don't know said it to sarah, who did her screwy-up-face which means "why are you still talking? go away!" and the black woman said "oh! overshare!" and walked away

in csi: miami the perp had a shelf full of forensics text books! and his wife said "they are DISGUSTING!! ..... oh! no offence!!"

(c5 had a fantastic run last night: a not-awful doc on the russian revolution w.surviving colour footage, anti-lenin but even more anti the tsar - "politically he was an idiot" said one professor - then csi ep 100, then csi: miami with CARUSO who i ph34r i adore though mileage may vary, then that donal macintyre underground doc on the fat gangster, which wz full of surprisin stuff, like the gangster in question bein UTTERLY COMFORTABLE WITH bein GAY and speaking perfect urdu!!)

also lindsay crouse was in david mamet's house of games. she is kinda boring

I wasn't very impressed with CSI Miami, but then again, I rarely am.

And you missed out the BEST BIT OF THE EVENING, which was the repeat of HOT HOTT SUPER HOTTTT!!! Bonker Boris Johnson enthusing about the Turks (despite them assasinating his great grandfather). I was endlessly entertained by watching his hair do tricks. I wonder if he makes it do those things on purpose, or if it just grows that way. Sigh, swoon, phwoar, etc.

i find her endlessly watchable: she is lowkey and chiselled and odd, and full of utterly private jokes and passions

i want to see EVERY SINGLE TV SHOW SHE HAS EVER BEEN IN, NOW!!

haha YES boris johnson!! i only saw a bit of that cz i wz makin myself supper but YES!! i totally didn't realise he had turkish ancestry, i thought "he must be doin this to big himself up as a convincing future minister of culture, interested in artefacts etc"

i must admit i am fascinated by those pols who are doing a kind of LONG MARCH THROUGH THE TINY MEDIA approach to being returned in glory as tory leader: i still believe this this is portillo's plan (i know he has renounced all political ambition but feh!), but now boris also

(I heart Grissom. I even now heart the rest of the staff, incl. Sara even though I didn't like her for so long, and my mother exclaimed, "that woman looks like a grouper!" and then made a grouper-face when she first saw the show, so that I still think of Sara's character as grouper-woman. But affectionately.)

It's terrible; I have trouble recognising the same character actor within the same episode unless they are re-introduced when they enter ("Now we are going to be interrogating the husband/suspect") let alone when they appear as different characters in different programs. I sometimes wonder if I have some kind of face-dyslexia.

to me this project is no game, but the gradual revealing of a vast secret plot we do not yet understand!! yes i do live on my own!!

when will they pitch CSI: SUNNYDALE? if horation can blither on about how bathroom mould has unique DNA then it is time we got electron microscope close-ups of vamp dust!!

(eg when warren killed his gf and later when willow wz on post-tara rampage and the other two were in the cells and had to be rescued from her wrath)

tho i did like the bit where the black kool-d00d CSI and the henry rollins CSI made a lifesize rubber mannequin out of expensive gunk and the blonde ex-lapdancer CSI wz aghast at their nerdiness as it wobbled in the jeepseat in the background

the accents, the gun on elastic, the amazing gelatine man = entertainment

but i liked when brass "you can drop the british accent, now, chum", and the guy said "harder than you think, old fellow, i'm BRITISH!!" except but then he worked flippin burgers!

i keep making the mistake of making something to eat and sitting down to watch it only to have it start with a shot of, say, a time lapse sequence of maggots eating a guys face and suddenly i don't fancy this rice...

I was excited at the time, but am left with a slightly disappointed feeling. I can't remember much of what happened. There was too much atmospherics, too much characterisation, not enough actual plot. And not nearly enough science. An hour's episode expanded out to two hours.

Though now I understand why they rescheduled it from last week. The thumb. Ick.

Though Stokes hallucinating his own autopsy was grate!

But definitely wasn't what I was expecting.

actually i did like his dream of the autopsy ppl larfin and foolin as they cut him up --- but they shd have broken into song-and-dance a la SINGIN DETECTIVE

the killer didn't have much of a plan other than making one of them die whilst imprisoned. he obviously wasn't interested in the money. i think the big explosion was, er, actually, i don't know why. 'just in case'. didn't the non-insect clues narrow it down to a small enough sample to interate through?

wasn't very well explained just why those holes had traces of semtex, the whole triggering device and how, if it was a weight thing, it didn't go off when he was panicking (as anyone who's danced on bathroom scales can tell you).

didn't quite understand how he seemed to hear the people digging for him when they were actually digging up a dalmation several miles away.

not much in the way of cgi apart from the ants in part two. almost no fetishisation of the equipment (unlike QT's ER episode which was all shiny instruments)

the roy rogers thing didn't ring true, too much passion from gil. ditto the other tarantino bits. ('story' and 'direction' were by tarantino, writers were usual csi writers but i guess QT chipped in for the dialogue)

and no, NOT ENOUGH SARAH.

A: for this deduction -- there is METEORITE DUST in the vic's HERBAL TEA = she wz clearly poisoned by her VIOLIN VIRTUOSO neighbour
B: the bit where the girl in the caff swept up a dead rat and said brightly: "i feed them rat poison in scrambled egg!! so what would YOU like to eat?"
C: the clue to mom's sex-with-a-teen wz on the mutilated talking doll's broken recording tape
D: but mostly for the snowed-up nyc overhead shots which = pretty
