I do.

miccio (miccio), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't! I don't know how I missed this.

Leon Bluth (Ex Leon), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I gave Jel my address many a month and week ago. Ya gotta have faith!

miccio (miccio), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:24 (twenty-one years ago)

They've been sent out?!

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess so! I must confess as I was out the door to work when I checked my mailbox I just threw on track 6 and listened to it on repeat all the way to work (the cassette-to-digital transfer is dandy, jel! Gracias!). I'll listen to the rest when I get home.

miccio (miccio), Monday, 28 March 2005 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Yep, got mine, as my foolish duplicate thread noted. :-) All the songs I already knew on it sound just as great as before! A merry collection.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 00:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Jay Vee's "Penguin" is techno funk sex. This is a good thing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 00:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks, Ned! I wish I had a copy (of the comp, that is.)

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Sundar into Kate's track is GREAT sequencing. And both are wonderful!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I've come to the realization that you're all insane

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you Ned.

sundar subramanian (sundar), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

oh i want one

charleston charge (chaki), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Someone needs to make a megamix

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Wah, how come the Americans get it before the Brits?

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 06:35 (twenty-one years ago)

did he send it to my address? i haven't got it yet.

latebloomer: AKA Sir Teddy Ruxpin, Former Scientologist (latebloomer), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 06:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess its postage...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 06:59 (twenty-one years ago)

jel -- please email me (again) your postal address!
so i can send you a little something in return :)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

As mentioned on the other thread, I was going to set up a hosting page for this, with downloadable mp3 and information.

Contributors, can you

1) Indicate if the MP3 hosting is OK with you, or not,
2) Give me some covering info regarding yourself and your track,
3) ur that's it.

Also, if everyone agrees, I can set up a 'cafepress' version so people who can't/wont get one can take the easy option to get one. Obviously, this option can 'upset' folk, so I'd need everyone's explicit agreement. I can make this 'no profit' or I can make this 'profits to the server appeal' whatever.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 08:59 (twenty-one years ago)

you may put my song up

charleston charge (chaki), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Righto.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 09:15 (twenty-one years ago)

You can put up our song (NA and Sarah). Whatever.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 12:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I don't mind if you MP3 and host my track, either.

Masonic Cathedral (kate), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah that's fine, host away.

BTW if anyone's having trouble singing along to Vonneguts Cradle, I find "Be homosex, be homosex, be homosexual" suffices.

A / F#m / Bm / D (Lynskey), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Works for me!

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:09 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha I was referring to the mp3 hosting issue. When I listen to the track again I'll see if those lyrics work for me.

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:17 (twenty-one years ago)

you can host my band's song! (canasta)

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

You may also put my "song" up.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:44 (twenty-one years ago)

am i on the mails list

anthony, Tuesday, 29 March 2005 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, hello! I'm sending out a few at a time - will be doing so over the next few weeks - will send out emails asking for addresses etc! Did you like my song, it's noise.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

the songs, while intriguing and endearing separately, collectively work as evidence that we should all be locked up.

miccio (miccio), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Easter kind of got in the way of the posting schedule. I'm pretty sure I put latebloomers copy in the post.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

You can host my track Mark!

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I've had no mention (yes or no) re: the "cafepress" idea, so I'm treating it as "OK" until I get one "refusal" from a contributor. I will host tracks from all agreeable sources, but the 'cafepress' version has to be 'complete' for it to work...

yeah?

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure what cafepress is, anyhow, I don't mind.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark -

You can def. post my track.

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:30 (twenty-one years ago)

post mine but i want 25% profit for whatever you make on it.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Contributors should email me their address. See above, it is my super special gmail addy.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

hmm, see below, that should be. I R confused.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

It's above now.

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 19:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Easter kind of got in the way of the posting schedule. I'm pretty sure I put latebloomers copy in the post.

-- jel -- (freeduni...), March 29th, 2005.

yay! :-)

latebloomer: AKA Sir Teddy Ruxpin, Former Scientologist (latebloomer), Tuesday, 29 March 2005 19:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey hey, I just got mine. Sounding good so far (5 tracks in)

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 4 April 2005 07:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Who puts these together? And can I be on the next one?

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Monday, 4 April 2005 19:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Now, Tantrum, to get a slot on an ILX comp, one must, it appears, make an early reservation and have mucho patience. Not that I've ever tried myself to be on them things or anything, mind... But... Oh well, you can get a vague idea how it goes on this thread --

Camping out on the sidewalk to be first in line: C/D?

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Monday, 4 April 2005 19:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I was wondering if for the next project - instead of just an audio CD - we might compile an ILX DVD o' crap. Music, arty funness, video, prose, what-have-you. Interest?

Remy Ulysses Fitzgerald (x Jeremy), Monday, 4 April 2005 19:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Why not just a computer CDR of funny quicktime clips and shit? There's those of Andrew and his clones... etc

I'll interview college kids about GRIME.

absolutego (ex machina), Monday, 4 April 2005 20:17 (twenty-one years ago)

YEAH! That'd be WELL WEAPON!

A / F#m / Bm / D (Lynskey), Monday, 4 April 2005 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

This really is an excellent comp -- while I knew many of the songs already, hearing it all, plus Jel's sequencing, has turned it into something special. The variety -- while not truly all over the place, it's got more so than most -- is showcased here so spectacularly. I've been listening to it regularly and it might yet be something I could vote for way down the way in Pazz and Jop.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 04:15 (twenty-one years ago)

(Also, Martin M's track is just plain killer.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 04:16 (twenty-one years ago)

*waits for love*

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 04:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim -- roxor!

Remy (x Jeremy), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 05:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I dunno, but if you want the CD, send me an address Jon.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

track 12 is fucking great.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 19:08 (twenty-one years ago)

cheers jel. michael is MEAN.

di, Wednesday, 27 April 2005 21:56 (twenty-one years ago)

actually, you know, i *think* i still have an extra copy of the FIRST ilx comp. i have it around somewhere anyway, so it may take some effort to locate, but if anyone in the Toronto area wants it email me.

Kim (Kim), Wednesday, 27 April 2005 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

The fourth Toronto disc is still available. First poster wins it.

Sundar (sundar), Thursday, 28 April 2005 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

PWNED

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 28 April 2005 02:27 (twenty-one years ago)

My track wasn't mentioned either, Di.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 28 April 2005 02:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine was, but by me so does that count?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 28 April 2005 06:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I sincerely liked every track.

Sundar (sundar), Thursday, 28 April 2005 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I was impressed by the skills on show, but not that much of it is really my kind of thing - Sundar, you may be an extreme example of that, as your track is hugely impressive, but the kind of music I avoid. Sorry, but that's just taste. I liked some a lot - Di & Duane's probably the most, but there were several others.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 28 April 2005 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess my song is pretty fucken awesome for such a downer. I still haven't heard the comp though, so the only song I can compliment at the moment is my own.

So yeah... I heard some people were wondering where I was.

You have my address, Jel? I thought I emailed it to you. I can resend if necessary... Just let me know.

I guess I gotta answer this:

1) Indicate if the MP3 hosting is OK with you, or not,
2) Give me some covering info regarding yourself and your track,

1) it's fine by me, although if you want the best in sound quality (for an mp3), email me and I'll send you a link to an mp3 that hasn't gone through encoding twice already.
2) info about the track: I recorded it in my bedroom when I was living in Nashville. I played guitars and bass and that army of synth strings, but I programmed the drums and played them in Battery because I can't play drums to save my life. My neighbors actually did call the management at the apartment complex while I was recording the electric guitar part, but I was done by the time they showed up to ask me to knock it off.

martin m. (mushrush), Saturday, 7 May 2005 05:23 (twenty-one years ago)

hey martin, yes, please resend me your address, sorry.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 7 May 2005 08:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Could I get a copy of this, if it's not going to be available online?

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 7 May 2005 12:03 (twenty-one years ago)

yo jel, got these in the mail, cheers!

fanks martin skidmore, me and duane heart u.

di, Sunday, 8 May 2005 07:39 (twenty-one years ago)

So it's too late to submit something?

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 08:21 (twenty-one years ago)

I was wondering why there were no Thirds to be found.

On one hand I've got myself to blame (Lynskey), Sunday, 8 May 2005 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris, you should include your offering on the bonus CD single when the deluxe version comes out in four months.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 8 May 2005 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I gave a wretched drunken pisstake of "Fire and Rain" to Ned, actually, a million years ago, as a placeholder. But it's just as well that wasn't unleashed.

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 18:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh lord, I remember that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 May 2005 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, Hi folks.

Thanks for the info, M.Mush, I guess I should do something about this.

I'll start encoding stuff this week, now I have access to my web pages once again.

mark grout (mark grout), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Haunting, isn't it, Ned?

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:33 (twenty-one years ago)

That's a word for it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:39 (twenty-one years ago)

And yet you denied the world this experience.

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, YOU'RE the one saying you're glad it didn't surface, so none of your smack.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I said "it's just as well". But anyone who wants to listen to a 7 minute version of "Fire and Rain" sung by a very drunk person who turns it first into a murder ballad and then into an extended vision of heaven, I can IM you the file. (It was recorded on a hand-held recorder, and there are some speed issues, but what are you gonna do?)

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 8 May 2005 20:06 (twenty-one years ago)

can you email it to me? i wanna hear it! email smidi194 at student dot otago dot ac dot nz.

di, Sunday, 8 May 2005 21:50 (twenty-one years ago)

So, shouldn't we be starting work on Vol. III, so we can get it out by 2008 or so?

n/a (Nick A.), Sunday, 8 May 2005 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I finally heard this today, and it's outstanding. Huge props to everyone involved.

I'm going to read the rest of this thread now.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 13 May 2005 04:42 (twenty-one years ago)

The sequencing is flawless, too.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Friday, 13 May 2005 04:43 (twenty-one years ago)

crudders' song popped up randomly on my mp3 player yesterday which was a pleasant surprise

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Friday, 13 May 2005 04:54 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 21:02 (twenty years ago)

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

sure, send me your mailing address to the e-mail below and i'll try to put it in the mail by the end of the week.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 1 June 2005 23:48 (twenty years ago)

it's weird how we can all have the latest leak of the album by whatever band in like 2 days yet our own comp seems to be making the rounds so slowly!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 2 June 2005 00:04 (twenty years ago)

Done. Thanks! (xp)

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 2 June 2005 00:10 (twenty years ago)

Opps! Sorry I'll be sending some copies out soon! I have extra copies still, email mailing address to my hotmail address. Or something.

jel, Thursday, 2 June 2005 07:56 (twenty years ago)

I guess I'm a mono-tasker.

jel, Thursday, 2 June 2005 08:05 (twenty years ago)

Sean, I still have your copy. If we have a FAP next week I can give it to you (provided I can make it). Otherwise maybe you could email me your address?
