We're (Fractured) playing at the Dublin Castle, Camden Parkway (http://www.bugbearbookings.com/pages/dc.htm), on Friday April 22nd. There are a couple of other bands and we're onstage at 9.15 I think.

Hot rocking action promised and since it's my turn to pick the setlist, all our very best choons will be aired. And don't worry, I won't be singing this time.

Hope you can make it for beer and powerchords.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 1 April 2005 12:26 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, Dr C: I shall be at the Hi Records show at the Barbican.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 1 April 2005 17:03 (twenty years ago)

Anyone coming - it's a week on Friday?

Stuff about the other bands here : http://www.bugbearbookings.com/pages/dclist.htm

It says we're "rakish postpunk Fall-ist frolics" so expect exactly that!

It would be good to see some ILXers!!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:00 (twenty years ago)

Are you going to the Stax one, Martin?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:04 (twenty years ago)

are you going to play that song about pierluigi collina?!?!?!?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:06 (twenty years ago)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:06 (twenty years ago)

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:09 (twenty years ago)

KEVIN AYERS AND THE WHOLE WORLD

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:10 (twenty years ago)

haha also i once met roxy music's least famous bass player at a friend's wedding (he said proudly: "i wasn't on a single record!")

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:13 (twenty years ago)

The Whole World could have reformed had I not chickened out for fear of sitting in an enclosed room in Chalfont St Giles with Mike Oldfield for two hours bah!

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:17 (twenty years ago)

My friend's dad was Roy Orbison's touring lead guitarist!

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:23 (twenty years ago)

I am not on Fractured's recd. I was in another band in 2003. Some ILX people even saw that band! In fact I'm still in that band too, but we only play a gig every 16 years, so book your seats for 2019. I will be on Fractured's next record - hot off the presses in 6 weeks time.

Marcello - I am sitting in an enclosed room in Chalfont St.Giles RIGHT NOW! But I can't see Mike Oldfield. I'll have a look under my desk....

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 14 April 2005 12:23 (twenty years ago)

I am of course on the Fractured track on the ILX comp, pop-pickers.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 14 April 2005 14:26 (twenty years ago)

PJ, no: you would think I would, but it was the Sun and Hi nights that particularly appealed. What with going to see Ornette Coleman at the start of May, the average of the acts I'm seeing is being bumped up hugely. Total age of the three Sun stars: 217. And Ornette is older than any of them.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:08 (twenty years ago)

Didn't think Ornette was your thing, Martin...

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 15 April 2005 05:25 (twenty years ago)

Morning Marcello! So were you in Kevin Ayers and The Whole World? This is interesting!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 15 April 2005 06:10 (twenty years ago)

Morning Dr C!

No, but I am good friends with two members of said group.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 15 April 2005 06:23 (twenty years ago)

I do not know the Sun stars.

I would like to go to Stax night to see Brother Eddie Floyd.

I would like to go to Dr C's thing too.

I have just realised it is next week, not tonight.

So my excuse for not going is no longer valid.

I am sure something will crop up.

But I will be there in spirit.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 15 April 2005 07:15 (twenty years ago)

Marcello, he sort of semi isn't my thing: this is largely the influence of my old friend Andrew. When he finally managed to get me to a jazz gig several months back (Cecil Taylor/Anthony Braxton) I absolutely loved it, so was happy to say yes when he suggested Ornette. Ike/Peebles are much more my thing really.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 15 April 2005 17:20 (twenty years ago)

[bump]

Only two shopping days until punkpopness. Anyone coming?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 12:25 (twenty years ago)

That's two gigs involving People I Know I've been invited to this week; Tuner tonight at the Marquee and you lot on Friday.

Will I go to either? I can only do my best.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 12:30 (twenty years ago)

Well, if you make it, it will be great to see you!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 13:36 (twenty years ago)

Come!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 22 April 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

I would like to come, but I can't.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 22 April 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

Hey, doc.

the bellefox, Friday, 22 April 2005 13:21 (twenty years ago)

Hey PF - e-mail received. See you later - bring friends along!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 22 April 2005 13:43 (twenty years ago)

Thanks very much to The Pinefox for coming along! Sorry I had to run at the end PF, I had a few minutes to get to Camden Rd station carrying a keybd and stand! I had to leg it, sorry.

We're at The Brighton Providence on the Western Road this Saturday - onstage about 9ish. We're playing with La Momo (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/onemusic/exposed/brighton340p03.shtml) who are supposed to be ace.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Tuesday, 26 April 2005 10:02 (twenty years ago)

If anyone's in Brighton tomorrow....we're on at 9pm.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 29 April 2005 10:45 (twenty years ago)

Forgot to say - it's FREE!!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 29 April 2005 11:20 (twenty years ago)

ten months pass...
Is anyone going to see the Doc this week?

I hope he doesn't mind me reproducing this:

Come and see us headlining the Hope and Anchor in Upper Street, Islington, (http://www.bugbearbookings.com/pages/ha.htm) on Friday March 17th. We’re onstage around 10 and will be supported by The Avenue and The Vibrants. Entry is a fiver or £4.50 with the Hope and Anchor flyer (see link above).

the pinefox, Tuesday, 14 March 2006 22:02 (nineteen years ago)

I'm tempted, but I keep intending to and never succeeding, so no promises.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 14 March 2006 23:32 (nineteen years ago)

It would be great if you could make it, Martin.

We have a hot set lined up - best ever incl. lots of new material. As ever - would be great to have a beer with da ILX-massive beforehand. I'll be in the H&A from 6-ish.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 10:52 (nineteen years ago)

I would definitely be on for this, but at the moment I'm trying to see if anyone's going to see V for Vendetta that evening. I'll know closer to the date.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 15 March 2006 11:14 (nineteen years ago)

Anyone else thinking of rocking with the Doc?

the pinefox, Thursday, 16 March 2006 14:45 (nineteen years ago)

Apparently not. Anyway last call for any stragglers...

...follow up the pop quiz with another rockin' night out. You'll enjoy it!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 17 March 2006 11:53 (nineteen years ago)

Perhaps the fact that the thread title says 22nd April is putting people off clicking on it?

the bellefox, Friday, 17 March 2006 14:41 (nineteen years ago)

perhaps.
