For some long, ver ver complicated reason I am workjing all night tonight. From 10am yesterday to 8am tomorrow I have a matchstick suspended set of eyelids.

So I wonder. At what time G.M.T. (consid'ring that I am near the G part of that TLA) is ILE the quietest. ie - What part of the long, dark working night of the soul that is tonight am I gonna have no ILE buddies to talk too.

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That would be now then...

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

this one. i too am here fro the night, working on an essay that has to be in tomorrw: "compare the tense and aspect systems of english and russian" i now long for the days when i have no more essays to do, though i suspect that sooner or later i will find myself in an endless written stuff hell, asi have reports or something to do all the time in some office job that i shall no doubt have.

ambrose, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah but Ambrose, at least you are not in the limbo situation of working in a University (full of kids you know are quite as perspicatious as yerself) yet studying merely the growing lint in your navel.

Anyone else? As the world turns...

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm awake for a few hours yet, I'll harass yer Barnet Ape ass.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Pam & I are working deep into the UK night too (on Xmas gifts - shhhh), but I'm not sure I'll be in here that much.

Michael Jones, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm insistently procrastinating on working on my essay. The one about Thoreau.

Maria, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I get home at about 9:00 PM Chicago time, at which point I check e-mail and various boards & sites. I've noticed that between 9 & 10 (3 & 4 AM GMT?), it is most dead.

Kerry, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well I'm looking forward to 3-4am then.

When I say I am working all night, I am actually arsing about watching fifteen of the countries brightest new art hopes (for which read preppy art school types) make an absolute mess of my common room.

And bitch wid you guys.

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

why art the counrties brightest art hopes in soas? whya re they in the common room at 1.30 am? why are they there?

ambrose, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The short answer. Money

The long answer, some sort of complex competition run by a major energy drink manufacturer who suggest that their tipple refreshes body and mind. The challenge, a 24 hour art makeover challenge which - due to me being in the Lanka for acouple of weeks - meant I did not quite nip in the bud. Complications ensue which mean king of health & safety / fire (me) must listen to bluegrass all night whilst making a vague stab at a VAT return and walking round looking officious whilst people stand near very large canvasses but don't seem to be painting anything.

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

it's 2:30 in the p.m. here (NZ). someone'll be along. me, i'm going to sleep.

unknown or illegal user, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No-one ever seems to post around 4am GMT. Still awake Pete? (1:39am)

DG, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yes. Lucily working with said energy drink manufacturer means you get a lot of said energy drink.

Artists are very slow.

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And I don't mean I'm working like Lucy (who is on Garden Leave).

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

well it beats sitting in a computer room nearly empty in the dodgiest part of sheffield - although there are some russians behind me which is strange and compelling, and i should talk to them or something i guess but obviously, not. i have to listen tpo RA mixes by dj kefir, or rather dJ creamcheese (lit.) from some radio station, playing hugh masakela and glasgow undergroundstuff (!)(russian are fucked in the head, period)

ambrose, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

4pm in NZ now.... I'm HE--EEEERE

Menelaus Darcy, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

3:30 am in Lundun, and I am still here. This staying awake lark is awful hard though...

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Be strong. Be strong and true. Reinforcements will be here soon

Menelaus Darcy, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

MIKE HANLEY'S NOT HERE TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS, SO I'M HERE. STAY AWAKE! STAY AWAKE!

Kerry, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm here to say 'stay awake' too, albeit in a calmer manner. What was all that Orwell said about the word 'albeit'? It's a great word.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Albeit. Two great words an one great word bit. (4:30am)

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think it deserves it's own thread so I'm trying to restrain myself here but can I just take this opportunity to interject that I got my case study analysis back tonight and I got 92% on the essay portion (my prof asked to *keep* a copy for teaching purposes!) and even though I don't know the exact mark yet, the presentation was praised too. Yay yay yay me! I am so relieved... will sleep so well... happy happy...

Good night ILE. I wuv you.

Kim, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How's it going, Pete?

Pam's making great strides with her (top secret) Xmas workings, and I've designed some gorgeous jewel-case inserts for a Pines CD-R that's going overseas. That day last winter spent photographing snow- laden branches in Crystal Palace Park wasn't wasted after all. Ink in the colour cartridge is getting a bit low though... six runs through at 1440dpi is taking its toll.

4:56am and not really that tired...

Michael Jones, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The artwork was looking alright at 3am. Its starting to look a bit ropey now. Ah well, I wont have to live with it as I will spend all of tomorrow in bed. Managed to spend much of this time usefully finishing of VAT return.

And writing Christmas cards.

Pete, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And now you can some more...and more...and MORE...

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Now 5:34am and I feel a bit queer. Night-night, everybody.

Michael Jones, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ha! i larf at mortals who go to bed. i am still here and will be till they kick me out to clean up the crunchie wrappers from my desk at 7.00am then i can aimlessly wander around for an hour till they let me in again. i may go to the help the aged cafe (of pulp fame - actually i made that up) for a sandwich. pete still there? seems though for both you and me 4-5 am is most productive period - scary thought. i have spent the time listening to stange mixes by australian/american/russian garage djs, and trying to discover about random garage girl dj i met a year ago in a club, who was still at aschool when i tried to phone her up later (to go record shopping, of course!). she is dj nastya, catchy huh. she is playing in some huge '2-step' party in st petersburg on friday. wish i was back in rushhour now.......

ambrose, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Still here, about to go on another round to see how the kids are doing. I'm staying til it gets properly light - not that I've been of much use. Will I be able to sleep when I get home anyway?

Been ages since I did an all nighter.

Pete, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

morning all (7:54am)

Ed, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well you'll all be pleased to hear that I am about to go home. The art is okay (there is one of cows which is ace).

See youall Friday I think. ZZZZzzzzz (8.00am)

Pete, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ed? you still there? i am on marathon stylee.....have to hand in translation at 12, essay at 4, then go to mango tree....stat up forever eh. was last in bed at 10 am yesterday.

just found wicked place called sarnis. the perennial question - waht to do whne they kick you out of the computer room for cleaning, is answered. afetr wandering to help the aged (closed), lynnes + mamas and leonies (closed) i stumbled upon blessed sarni which is near blacks. bacon + tom s/wich + coffee 200p eat it. not bad read the paper for an hour. beautiful morning, eh?

this is the only time me and ed have been up in the morning at the same time, that is before 12.00

ambrose, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

no I'm sure I must have kicked you out of bed at this time at least once. In fact yeas I remmeber when, went to Rome from Perugia and you had to get up to get the train.

Ed, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

When I saw Pete hadn't been home I thought he had either pulled or was lying in a ditch somewhere but now I see I was wrong. Phew.

Emma, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ILE between 6-11 pm (gmt), is kinda = ILE on the weekend. Less hectic, but still some activity.

james, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

So what did you decide was the quietest time Pete? I'd say about 6am or thereabouts.

Ally C, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Whatever time it is now, very quiet and have ended up rambling to myself thoughts about Adam Ant and Angel. Not a good sign.

Nic, Friday, 7 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's bloody quiet right now at 1pm saturday afternoon.

chris at home, Saturday, 8 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes it is. Just me, Chris, Steve and Katie, more or less. Come and play, everyone. Sometimes I wish LUSENET timestamped posts. I don't know why.

Nick, Saturday, 8 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

1.30pm. Certain plans collapsed. Am now contemplating going to ILE Christmas thing. But could only stay for an hour or so, and am thinking...would anyone be there at three?

james, Saturday, 8 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am here too! But this is unusual, I am at RickyTs house and we are going to eat sossijizz and drop some stuff off in Clerkenwell before we rock on to the Betsey. We'll be there between 3 and 4, I should imagine.

Sarah, Saturday, 8 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I just ate many sausages. Advantages of living at home, you wake up hungover on saturday and Daddy is cooking greasey food for you.

Ronan, Saturday, 8 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ricky T's sossijizz is different to sausages, Ronan.

Nick, Saturday, 8 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No it's not. yeah I know I was surprised too.

Ronan, Saturday, 8 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)
