Which is worse, being forced to move away or having a good friend move away?

Well assuming you have more than one good local friend, or even one good friend and a few half decent acquaintances, the moving away is worse. Unless your really good friend is hitting on your girlfriend - just because he thought you had ended it with her merely because you had a disagreement about the role of Travis in Blakes 7 - which frankly was neither here nor their anyway and he was taking a fucking liberty getting that close when he wasn't sure things were no longer capish between you.

Grr!.

What if you have more than one friend but only one *really good* friend who you'd miss like hell? Then which is worse? You get the loss without the opportunity for new friends.

No such thing as a *really good friend*. They'll still diddle with your friends.

Thanks a lot, Pete.

I have never been forced to move away but have many friends die or move away and yes I do miss them. Gale

If the friend was really good, both are the worst. Whatever environment you're in, everything will seem bleak despite old/new oppurtunities. This issue is something I'll be faced with in a year or so.....

Sometimes separation strengthens a friendship over time, because when you catch up with each other again you have new stuff to talk about, experiences to compare, so the relationship doesn't get stale. There are people I see every three years or so, yet when I do see them, it's like they never left, we just pick up where we left off, and everyone's got something new to say.
