Who in this bitch likes holiday cards?

I am a very cheerful fucking person and like to send out lots and lots of Xmas cards; I have sent them to random people in the phone book to cheer them up for example. So this is a general notice that if you would like a damn holiday card from me, you just email me your address and I will send it to you. No mail bombs or tricks, I promise. And maybe I will enclose something to cheer you up, like a stick figure drawing.

And, um, discuss cards in general I guess on this thread.

They are a pain in the ass because i have to find ones that can deal non offensive to FIVE Amajor religons .

anthony, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I love them but I have no money to buy enough. So I either buy a package with 10 or 15 and spend weeks agonizing over whom to send them to, or make them (like I did last year). I love the ones with gold bits most. The ones I make had no gold bits, but they had red and green glitter and little tree shaped sequins made in the paper.

I've just sent out my first phallanx of Christmas cards, and during my all through the night Xtravaganza I shall be writing most of my others. I think sending random card (posties whatever) is an exceptionally thing to do - everyone loves mail. And at Christmas, well its the cheapest kind of present you can get.

Pete, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I used to be better at this. The problem is that my own list would go on forever and I'd feel terribly peeved at myself if I forgot somebody. My holiday wishes are now general ones to all. :-)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i don't like christmas cards. i don't like to receive them. i always wonder why someone would bother to waste their money on sending me them. i never give them. i wish christmas would go away.

di, Wednesday, 5 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am pretty obsessed with getting and sending anything in the mail, so Christmas cards aren't Christmas crass, they're Christmas class!

I WUV GETTING CARDS. Anyone who wants to send me a card need only shoot me an email to get my address.

Hi folks, I don't send as many out anymore as the stamps are too pricey here and with 7 grands to buy a little something for I am like Ned and just wish a Merry X-mas from here.As well I donate to our local foodbank as well,(which I love to do) If you have a couple of hundred to go at $0.54 per stamp which = $108.00, not counting the cards. :( I could by a good order for a needy family for that. Isn't sending Christmas cards to strangers a little creepy (what with the anthrax and all)?

RS, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i love getting cards. definitely. i prefer getting cards at other times of the year than christmas though (although i love christmas). when they arrive apropros of nothing thats really nice.

gareth, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Do ransom notes count as cards?

Nick, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I love cards. In fact I will send people weird cards throughout the year just to satisfy my lust for card-sending. I like making them or subverting them by writing all over them in some way because the Hallmark sentiment grates a bit, and it's just more fun. Probably my weirdest card I've sent this year was to an occaisonal ilx-er that featured Basement Jaxx and the Bee Gees.

So anyone who wants a card, lemme know...

Nicole, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like sending cards, I think it makes people happier. It's a very minimal expense in my book, and I tend to buy tons of them after season to stock up for next year. They're always "funny" cards (though really cards are never very funny) because I'm not religious and I hate sappy cards. Well, except for a couple that I bought just cos I thought the picture was real cute, like one of two polar bears stargazing. I just think everyone in the world should get at least one card, everyone likes mail. And I'm not going to Anthrax anyone! I don't know where to get Anthrax. Coke yes Anthrax no.

I always hang mine up on a glittery string over doorways. Then I put them in my big bag of cards. I try to save every card I ever get. I have some from all the way back to my 12th birthday, at least. It's cool. I like cards.

I think it's a fetishization because my non-immediate family sucks and I rarely get cards from the lot of them. I almost never get birthday cards from them and I get very few Christmas cards from family members, so I want to make sure everyone else gets plenty of cards. My friends are nice and all send me cards, they are lovely people.

I found this card last night while looking for the boxes I bought last year. I bought it when I was 12, going shopping in an art store with my cousin. I almost died when I saw it, how did I know at 12 who I'd be hanging out with at 21? In other words, the first thing I thought when I looked at the card was "Otis Wheeler". SO YOU BE PREPARED FOR THE BEST WANKY CARD EVER WHEELER.

Oh, and everyone who's emailed me so far, you will get cards! I promise! I'm going to write them tonight while I'm baking cookies.

Dude, I sound crazy, baking cookies and writing cards, what am I a 40 year old mum? I feel like it with all these damn people I'm always taking care of. I'm going to turn into crazy drunk holiday mom one day, I know it.

Never mind, I am rambling. I like Christmas!

Ally, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Are you sending people coke Ally?

I got my cards last year from my girlfriend's mum, who is queen of arts and crafts (mid-Lancashire chapter). However, in a spasm of inertia, I didn't send any out, and who knows, I wouldn't bet against me forgetting to do so again this year.

Mark C, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm rubbish at cards and broke at the moment (until the new PLASTIC arrives), however inter-office politics demands cards to virtually everyone in the building. Went into clinton cards today and found FORTY FOR £1.99, YAY!

carsmilesteve, Thursday, 6 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I got my fucking card :) thanks

kevin enas, Tuesday, 18 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I got my Ally card today as well. :-) Thanks!

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 18 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I JUST GOT THE BEST WANKY CARD EVER

Wheeler, Tuesday, 18 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yay! Unfortunately for some reason one person's card got returned to me today stating that "FOREIGN MAIL MUST BE PREPAID" (?!?!? WTF does that mean? It has stamps on it, isn't that "prepaid"? Fucking post office) so I have to remail it, so some of you might get it late.

Did you really like the card Wheeler? I bought it when I was 12, it's been sitting around for you that long.

Ally, Wednesday, 19 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's an outstanding card. Even considering the years I had to wait for it, it's excellent.

Wheeler, Wednesday, 19 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

DETAILS OF CARD PLEASE.

I got cats with attitude. Most cool. :-)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 19 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's communist pornography.

Ally, Wednesday, 19 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)
