DJ Martian (djmartian), Saturday, 2 April 2005 14:45 (twenty years ago)

Match of the day - more like punch up of the day

DJ Martian (djmartian), Saturday, 2 April 2005 14:46 (twenty years ago)

With each other? Hope so!

Dadaismus (Dada), Saturday, 2 April 2005 14:49 (twenty years ago)

yes with each other

DJ Martian (djmartian), Saturday, 2 April 2005 14:50 (twenty years ago)

according to talksport: "they were both really going at it" - swinging punches etc

DJ Martian (djmartian), Saturday, 2 April 2005 14:51 (twenty years ago)

funny this week/ today the media was full of stories about Dyer the reformed character/ enjoying his football & no trouble with Souey

DJ Martian (djmartian), Saturday, 2 April 2005 14:53 (twenty years ago)

Bowyer unreformed then I take it

Dadaismus (Dada), Saturday, 2 April 2005 14:54 (twenty years ago)

Bowyer is thick though ! speaks like a Chav

DJ Martian (djmartian), Saturday, 2 April 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

Who'd have thought such a thing could happen from two consumate professionals.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 2 April 2005 14:59 (twenty years ago)

Points docked for use of word "Chav"

Dadaismus (Dada), Saturday, 2 April 2005 15:00 (twenty years ago)

maybe at the training ground..but NOT at an actual competitive match

DJ Martian (djmartian), Saturday, 2 April 2005 15:02 (twenty years ago)

apparently "haymaker" punches were thrown

DJ Martian (djmartian), Saturday, 2 April 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

Well done to Lineker for acknowledging that 'some people will have been amused by that'.

Japanese Giraffe (Japanese Giraffe), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:16 (twenty years ago)

(damn, i was just going to post "FUNNIEST. THING. EVER." as well)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:19 (twenty years ago)

Overpaid idiots, get them while they're hot

(Not sure about "these boys are not black and white anymore")

Onimo (GerryNemo), Sunday, 3 April 2005 09:55 (twenty years ago)

I found it most enjoyable.

A big thank you to everyone involved.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Sunday, 3 April 2005 10:03 (twenty years ago)

apparently only Bowyer swung punches. maybe Dyer stole his girlfriend?

Sven Basted (blueski), Sunday, 3 April 2005 10:07 (twenty years ago)

Or maybe because Dyer's too black for Bowyer. Has a bit of a racist record doesn't he? What a loathsome little runt of a man.

Charles Dexter (Holey), Sunday, 3 April 2005 14:12 (twenty years ago)

People will doubtless draw that conclusion but I'm not convinced unless Dyer claims otherwise.

Sven Basted (blueski), Sunday, 3 April 2005 14:13 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, Bowyer hates Asians, not blacks.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 3 April 2005 14:21 (twenty years ago)

It was so high school, Dyer wouldn't pass to Bowyer. Maybe Bowyer will get off-loaded coz of this. I think Dyer was unlucky to get sent off.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 3 April 2005 14:59 (twenty years ago)

(but yeah, v.funny!!)

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 3 April 2005 15:00 (twenty years ago)

There has been talk of Dyer moving at the end of the season anyway.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 3 April 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

Leicester boss Craig Levein once decked his team-mate Graeme Hogg when they were both playing for Hearts. I can't remember what punishments were meted out, or even why it happened, but it hasn't done Levein's career much harm. Saying that, he isn't an odious little creep with a history of being aggressive like Lee Bowyer is.

(for the first time ever, I agree with Alan Hansen, that Kieron Dyer was unlucky to be sent off, as it seemed to be Bowyer who started it)

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 3 April 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

There has been talk that this fuxxored my fantasy team, but my team was pre-fuxxored anyway.

Haikunym (Haikunym), Sunday, 3 April 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

i haven't seen anything like this since Graeme Le Saux and David Batty's scrap during their Champions League match against Spartak Moscow in 1996, though they were both trading punches that time iirc.

Sven Basted (blueski), Sunday, 3 April 2005 15:27 (twenty years ago)

It couldn't have happened to two nicer people.

M. White (Miguelito), Sunday, 3 April 2005 20:01 (twenty years ago)

Boooowyer lad
You should have seen it coming
Fastest punch you've ever seen
You should have kept on running
Souness, Shearer Shepherd all had frowns upon their faces
Dyer didn't pass to youuuuuuuuuuuuuu

cos you're a fucking racist
