Good morning alll

i've got a fresh pack of cigarettes, a large cup of coffee, lets buy us some tickets!

first question: who knows where the webpage is?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:42 (twenty years ago)

Tickets for Glastonbury 2005 will be available on Aloud.com from 9am. At that time we will introduce links to the booking pages for tickets to this year's festival. Please note that Aloud will be exclusively dedicated to selling Glastonbury tickets while they're available, no other tickets will be available during this period. We will also not be selling any tickets (including Glastonbury 2005 tickets) on the usual Aloud booking number 0870 998 8888, until all Glastonbury 2005 tickets have been sold. If you wish to order Glastonbury 2005 tickets by telephone please call 0870 165 2005 from 9am.

Please note the following terms and conditions for booking Glastonbury 2005 tickets have been introduced by the festival organisers.

We will endeavor to cancel all bookings made using multi-hit software or programs. The festival organisers want to ensure that all those who wish to be at Glastonbury 2005 have a fair and equal chance of becoming a ticket holder.
The full address of both ticket holders (not the card holder if different) must be entered at the time of booking.
One booking per card only
All ticket holders will need to produce photo ID on arrival at the festival site. All ticket holders will be able to obtain a free UK citizen card.
Camper Van and Car Parking tickets must be booked in advance and are available on all the festival ticket booking options.
All UK addressed bookings purchased via the overseas booking page will be cancelled.
16s and over will require an adult ticket.
Family tickets will be available - Maximum of four tickets per booking (one or two adults and up to two children aged 13, 14, or 15). Please use the dedicated booking links for family tickets.

that answers that then. http://www.aloud.com

"I'm panicking. Mainly cos my Dad just told me he lost his credit card last week and has to get a new one. And my Mum is away. So erm.......why am I even up? Oh yeah, texting sister??? "

I texted my sister! no reply. I am quite calm actually, despite this unfortunate conjunction of events.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:47 (twenty years ago)

it's DEBIT cards only people.

yeah?

just checking that's clear.

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:48 (twenty years ago)

this feels like work. boo to work.

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:49 (twenty years ago)

Debit cards in UK, credit cards elsewhere.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:50 (twenty years ago)

except for overseas buyer like our ronan, yes.

aloud.com already taking 30 seconds to refresh

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:50 (twenty years ago)

Aloud has already started slowing.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:50 (twenty years ago)

Debit cards in UK, credit cards elsewhere.

sorry yeah that's the fella.

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:51 (twenty years ago)

Good luck y'all!

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:52 (twenty years ago)

why are we even up now, we know it's not going to work for the first two hours...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:53 (twenty years ago)

Well, we might just get through early on. Bec managed to get hers at 7:42pm last year.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

is anyone even bothering with the phones?

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

good question, steve. i just realised that even though i'm tired, i bet i'll be too awake to go back to sleep. who's up for FAB(breakfast)?

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

i was comtemplating it, lets see how the website goes.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:56 (twenty years ago)

also, what are "multi-hit software or programs"?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:56 (twenty years ago)

Multi-hit software = Matt DC?

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:57 (twenty years ago)

international phoneline is surely the best bet for me, there wasn't one last year but it would seem like it might be less busy. I just tried phoning/waking my mum, with my pathetic story. she's asleep. I suppose getting card details in an hour is the same difference.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:57 (twenty years ago)

electronic man on phone he say "sorry lines are busy, please try later"

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:58 (twenty years ago)

ha, i can't get either aloud. com or glastonburyfestivals.co.uk now...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:58 (twenty years ago)

also:

Due to the likely high levels of demand, particularly during the initial period when tickets become available, you may not be able to access Aloud.com. In order to maximise the likelihood of See tickets processing orders effectively, we also can't allow instant access to the booking order forms

does that mean "no-s" is fucked as an option?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 06:59 (twenty years ago)

i am finding out what my girlfriend is thinking vis a vis breakfast by reading this thread. we are sat next to each other in bed. i don't think this wireless network business is very healthy.

ooh, now i can get the glasto website but not aloud.com...

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

ok, us atomic clock says it's nine now. come on.

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

WHAT IS THE FREYA FOR "SUNDAY"??!!?!??!

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:00 (twenty years ago)

hopefully someone will post a direct link if they get through? is anyone looking at other forums?! isn't that where we got freya last year?

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:01 (twenty years ago)

No-s fucked until we know what the booking URL is. Then it's a goer.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:01 (twenty years ago)

Aloud is running like a dead dog with no legs.

RickyT (RickyT), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:02 (twenty years ago)

aloud now taking 1 minute to reload

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:02 (twenty years ago)

lazy sundays at the computer.......

soon it will be late enough in the day to listen to music

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

phone line completely deeed as a dead thing

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

we should clearly be able to buy tickets, since only 6 of us are trying from here instead of zillions from last year, right?

colette (a2lette), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

Main multi-hit program is apparently called PowerProxy. No idea if this banning thing is a bluff or not.

Alba (Alba), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:03 (twenty years ago)

aloud still showing the "tickets available from 9" screen

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:04 (twenty years ago)

I like to imagine Aloud's offices as a Night of the Living Dead type scene, everything nailed down and the doors locked, as they all wait with white knuckles and terror in their eyes.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:05 (twenty years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:10 (twenty years ago)

yeah, i got the same as tom! woo!

let's hope i got my debit card number correct. the paranoia begins!

toby (tsg20), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

FUCKING HELL

that was easy

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

*which* 's' do u take out or is that link 's' free?

piscesboy, Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

No s works here!

(I am not actually buying tickets, I ws just swept up in the excitement)

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 3 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

Also YMOF Update please!

Hmmph? I'm sorted. Up, buy tickets, back to bed.

I have to make the same trip of pain to Shepton Mallet as Ronan does. There is some obscure arsedness/politeness sweetspot within me where if I'd known Tom was going, I might have asked him if he was in a position to get a ticket for me again, but I didn't ask anyone else the same thing. NB I do not of course begrudge Tom his position as free agent.

All that remains is to make a tape. Oh, and buy a tent, I seem to remember fucking the last one into a bin when we left last year, as the main poles were starting to resmble the banboo from Drunken Master 2

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 4 April 2005 08:27 (twenty years ago)

Yeah sorry, I'd only half-decided on Friday night and then there was a possibility (if it had been hard to get them) of just giving up on Sunday and going back to bed, so I didn't want to take on the responsibility of getting one for anyone else.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 April 2005 08:30 (twenty years ago)

Haha I was also pregnant with that possibility at half four on Sunday morning.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 4 April 2005 08:45 (twenty years ago)

Has anyone in the UK checked to see if they've taken the money?

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:13 (twenty years ago)

Pah.

My firstborn's due on July 10th, so I'm not allowed to go.

Hope it rains.

Buffalo Stan (Buffalo Stan), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:20 (twenty years ago)

no money gone yet. eek. i'd forgotten about that... i'm far too close to my overdraft limit for the 4th of the month.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

I need to get a new debit card cos this one is falling apart but I can't now until the glastonbury cash goes out (well I COULD but I don't want even the slightest risk of it not working)

Tom (Groke), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

It should be ok to get a new debit card, cos it will have the same info on it!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Monday, 4 April 2005 09:36 (twenty years ago)

This thread isn't nearly as fun as last year's.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 4 April 2005 10:03 (twenty years ago)

YES IT IS!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 4 April 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

good lud, even THREADS about Glastonbury are now accused of being 'not as good as they used to be'...

Sven Basted (blueski), Monday, 4 April 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

No confirmation yet :(

DV, did you get yours?

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 4 April 2005 11:00 (twenty years ago)

have you checked yr spam box mooro (sorry teaching grandparents to suck eggs, just checking is all)?

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 4 April 2005 11:23 (twenty years ago)

Its not my box, its the missus' (oo er). Can't really check that until I get home from work this evening. Thank you for the suggestion, good idea. Norton Spam Guard might be being over-zealous.

Mmmmm, spam box.

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 4 April 2005 11:26 (twenty years ago)

I hear My Missus' Spam Box are playing the Pyramid Stage this year.

So pleased everyone's go in. Roll on June! And July for Truck! And August for Green Man! What a lovely lovely year it's going to be...

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 4 April 2005 12:15 (twenty years ago)

Barry I note a marked decline in the quality of your fun-hating this year. I want bigger and better prophecies of doom and destruction, please.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 4 April 2005 12:16 (twenty years ago)

For all of you looking for a bummer, my Glasto tix experience has been pretty crap. Only 5 of 7 tix booked - my friends who I am supposed to go with from Canada couldn't even upload the booking page, I booked 4 out of 5 from the UK myself. There were THREE of them trying. Really sad, as Lisa & Dean have never been and were really stoked to go. I'm not sure I buy that whole "no cancellation list" crud either, but do we really want to bank on that? Does anyone know anyone who would like to cancel their tix and tell Eavis to donate them to my friends and/or have the names switched by some sort of magical marker?

To be smug, one of my Cdn friends was sure he would get tix as he was convinced that Glasto MUST give priority to international/overseas sales. Part of his logic had to do with tourism and the GNP. Though I have clearly already been proven right, there is part of me tempted to repeat "told ya so" over and over again to him. I'm even sadder that I managed to get his tix and not the ones for Lisa & Dean.

Ach, I'm going to eat chocolate in an attempt to overcome my depression. Lemme know if anyone hears anything positive about cancellations etc.

Tricia Smith, Tuesday, 5 April 2005 12:35 (twenty years ago)

i just got an email from the hostel in roskilde offering me a room there-- i'd tried to book last july and it was already full, but they've had a cancellation. i can't afford to do both this year...decisions, decisions!

colette (a2lette), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 12:57 (twenty years ago)

I'd like to go to denmark.

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 April 2005 12:59 (twenty years ago)

I found out today that I won't be able to get time off work for Glastonbury. Someone else on our team is going and has booked the three days off already. We're a small team working on tight deadlines so it'd leave us short-staffed. So that's me shafted (I can't really complain, seeing as my boss has passed up the festival for the same reason).

I presume I can cancel my ticket and get my money back, right? I will be very pissed off indeed if this means I've just chucked £125 down the drain.

The really annoying thing is that the person who's book the time off doesn't even have a ticket yet, but it "90% certain" he'll get one. So maybe I should put off the cancellation for now/try to come to some arrangement with him, but I'm not holding out much hope.

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

What a load of cock :(

Find out when is the absolute latest you can cancel and do it then. "90% certain" might well be completely meaningless.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, that was my plan.

This was the paranoia I had dared not mention on this thread in case I tempted fate.

Alan can you please program something that will automatically hide all Glastonbury threads for me?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

you could still come for the weekend and leave late sunday night?? maybe even wangle a half-day on friday and get there for late night friday?

possibly

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

Thing is, I'm not sure it'd be worth it for that little time at the festival, not to mention a bit depressing (especially leaving on Sunday night). I think I'd rather get the money back and put it towards a flight.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

Thank God there is New Order and Basement Jaxx to sweeten this bitter pill. And that I have a cool new job I really like, which I am having to repeat to myself at the moment, because I'm not sure I agree with it right now.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

Glasto website says that you can cancel your tix for a full refund before May 13th at 6:00pm. I am assuming that they are NOT including your booking fee, but at least that's £125 back.

It's possible that IF you have to cancel, they will still send an email asking you if you want tix - I know this sounds weird, but this is exactly what happened to me last year. Should this be the case, would you be willing to donate your ticket to the needy? i.e. my friends? God, it's all about me isn't it?

Your co-worker should know that the odds of getting a ticket at this stage are more like 10% unless he's planning on whoring himself out to Eavis, and I'm not really sure that would really work. Well, maybe, how hot is he?

Regardless your co-worker is acting like a cock, and I hope you go instead. I like you better.

Tricia Smith, Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:39 (twenty years ago)

i've done friday to last thing sunday before and still really enjoyed myself. jsl

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

You should totally still come Matt. I've left on a Sunday night before (during Roger Waters!) out of preference. I find leaving on a high and avoiding the queues and the stinking, decaying feel of Monday morning very appealing.

Missing Thursday is more of a wrench, but again, at least the roads will be clearer.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

Despite my greedy guts wanting your ticket for my Cdn friends, I agree with Alan and Alba, I think you should go all the same. With the line-up as it stands now (I know, I know), Sunday night you'll miss what? Kylie? Brian Wilson? Maybe I'm nuts, but they're not really that high on my list.

Tricia Smith, Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:08 (twenty years ago)

If National Express ran coaches through the night it would be much better.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:35 (twenty years ago)

this year I am NOT sleeping in Bristol airport. no way.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

tricia is nuts. still do it tho

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:03 (twenty years ago)

Only just found out Pam & her mates got their tix this afternoon, & only cos we called seetickets.

"Oh, would you like us to send you an e-mail, then?"

"Duh, YES!"

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:18 (twenty years ago)

we should certainly leave it until the first week of May, hopefully (aw that sounds dreadful, but still) your cow-orker will haf given up by then...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 19:27 (twenty years ago)

Has anyone else had the money taken fromt heir account yet. Cos I ain't.

Here comes the ph34r again.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 7 April 2005 15:34 (twenty years ago)

The law on mail order is that they can't take money until dispatch occurs.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 7 April 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

Well that's funny because last year tickets weren't printed for weeks (months?) after they took payment.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 7 April 2005 17:46 (twenty years ago)

I hate to add to people's fear, but the money was taken from our account on Wednesday!

Sorry to hear the news Matt, all is not lost. I'm sure you could blag Friday afternoon off & at least go down for some of the w/e. You could always leave early hours of Monday. I will be leaving at this time, so if you need a lift to somewhere on the way, just let me know! :-)

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 8 April 2005 07:11 (twenty years ago)

Thing is, I'm not sure it'd be worth it for that little time at the festival, not to mention a bit depressing (especially leaving on Sunday night). I think I'd rather get the money back and put it towards a flight.
-- Matt DC (runmd...), April 6th, 2005 6:14 PM. (Matt DC) (later)

do you drive, matt? if you rent a car and can brag half a day off friday you can still make most of the thing (last year i arrived "in time" on friday night for David Gray - but then REM woohoo), and i left Sunday just after Sigor Ros and missed out on Moby, a little boo hoo but i got over it, and still had a grand time.

i still haven't experienced the thursday night perry, of course

ken c (ken c), Friday, 8 April 2005 07:49 (twenty years ago)

plus you can ruin your work colleague's weekend by stalking him all the time and giving him evil.

ken c (ken c), Friday, 8 April 2005 07:50 (twenty years ago)

money went from my account on tuesday.

toby (tsg20), Friday, 8 April 2005 07:52 (twenty years ago)

Same here.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 8 April 2005 08:09 (twenty years ago)

Or take a vauxhall on a 3 day test drive innit! ;-)

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 8 April 2005 08:12 (twenty years ago)
