Is God Opposing You?

Ever feel like the enemy is just thwarting every attempt in your life to accompllish something? Maybe you're a student and you just keep feeling like your parents are never going to trust you and let you have some space. Maybe you're a mother and every attempt to connect to your daughter just fails. Maybe you're feeling called to a new and exciting, God-sized task but the doors just keep slamming in your face.

We are quick to say, "The devil is at work!" But let's not give him so much credit. He's not all that powerful and he can't get in the way of God's plan.

There is however, a force much greater that may oppose you. It's terrifying to consider. Look within yourself for just a moment with me. Be brave!

James 4:6 and I Peter 5:5 hold terrifying truths. They echo "God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble." God RESISTS the proud. God RESISTS! Oh, my! God RESISTS! Just imagine him as your opposition! Whom would you call on? What other power is there? None!

And yet when God sees pride in our lives, he himself resists us. This kicked me in the can last night! I do not want to have God has my opposition. But I will be the first to admit that this chick battles pride! (Oh, Lord let me find the strength to be humble so I might find your grace and not your resistance!)

Anyone else feel God's truth echoing much to powerfully through your heart with this thought? Let us get before God and do all we can to be emptied of pride. Let us submit to our church leaders...parents...husbands...and let us take off the cloak of "knowing-it-all" that we women sometimes wear...let us cease nagging and manipulation. Let us fall on our faces in humility! And watch to see if God doesn't spring forth with grace!

Swimsuits
"SOOOO, WHAT'S THE CRITERIA?
Let me refer you to my Truth or Bare Fashion tests. Can you pass the "Raise & Praise" test in your swimming suit? (Raising your hands above your head without showing any belly!) Try the "Mirror Image" test. (Sitting Indian-style in the suit and looking into a mirror to make sure it doesn't gap open at the crotch...how embarassing that could be!) Try bending over and looking in the mirror to see if you can bend over without anything falling out on top! :) Can you pass the Spring Valley test in a swim suit? Well, it's harder but I think you can stay in the spirit of being able to wear a suit that isn't entirely pasted to your chest. And by all means, embrace the Bra-illiant Test. (Make sure there's some padding in that suit for when you get cold and wet!!!) Modesty is modesty. We can't throw away the standards just because we're headed to the beach or the prom. But often, these are two places were we woefully compromise God's standards for modesty."

You do not know the power of the Dark Side!

I sorta think it's more important to get some experience and learn some good techniques for Jesus rather than keep pure and ignorant. If you're going on a date with the son of God you want to know how to show him a good time.

I wish I was twink-cute enough to pull off wearing the "I had an abortion" T-shirt.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Monday, 4 April 2005 13:33 (twenty years ago)

If you see too much thigh or your panties, guess what? So can everyone else. If you really want to up the ante, imagine that mirror is your dear ol' grandpa!
B-but... Grandpa would never think about those things, right??

It's a not brainer!

The only straps showing on a girl of God should be the straps from her cute summer sandals!

Don't get me wrong - I'm grateful the "i had an abortion" t-shirts have been brought to my attention (which I plan on ordering if I can). But what was the point of linking to this site? Lets get some more cheap shots in on the fundies? Yawn.

Does the care and modesty with which you dress say quietly, "I'm a woman of worth."

It says, "I'm expensive. And anal costs extra."

Why would you bother wearing a "thin or cute bra" a) ever if you're a fundie or b) if you're going to be wearing a "sweater or a thicker shirt"? Fuck these fucks.
