i also absolutely hate coming in late to a movie. if i don't get the opening shots i just can't get my head right.

I am absolutely this way, in the theatre anyway. The thrill of a movie starting to unfold is one of the great joys in life; it always feels so grand and exciting, even if the movie ends up being crap.

At home, I frequently am sort of settling into the couch when the movie starts, or maybe cracking open a beer or something, and my attention and wonder are less focused. It's also so much less grand and immersive.

I think part of it is all the previews and the little (very loud) bits showcasing all of the companies involved (what are those called, film folk?).
