Occasionally one of the poor abused dogs gets loose and fucks up its trainer/eats the trainer's children. It doesn't make up for anything but it's kind of satisfying to read about.

They busted a meth lab in Santa Rosa years ago and confiscated 55 fighting cocks. I called animal control to try and adopt one but the guy laughed at me: "These are not pets, they'll attack children, dogs, your legs..."

They put them all to sleep.

Dogfighting is a richly cherished part of the 'hip-hop' culture. A buddy of mine has a pitbull terrier and is befriended by a lot of colorful characters (from the 'street') who want to know about his dog, and how long he can hang by his jaws.

four years pass...

don't watch that if you're squeamish, guy gets absolutely ragdolled with a horn right in his chest.

reading about it now, he's in intensive care, but out of the greatest danger, still at risk from infection, the wound was 20 centimetres (don't know if that's deep or what, i guess so) and it went in to his chest cavity, also broke the lung cavity but didn't do much to the lungs themselves, almost hit his heart.

the piece i wrote literally just said 20 centimetres so might just be circumference of the wound or something. Matador's are usually pretty skinny but muscley so probably not depth.

11 months later and another bullfighter I'm having difficulty feeling sympathy for.
A day after dashing Spanish bullfighter Julio Aparicio showed his dominance by cutting the ears off two vanquished bulls, one of their bovine
brothers got revenge by gruesomely impaling the matador through his throat and out his mouth.
