record player question

work for a small college radio station, and we need to get new cartridges for our studio turntables as well as the travelling pair we use for DJ gigs. I think we'll get the Shure M447 for the travelling pair, as they seem the most durable. I play hip hop, so this would be my choice for the studio pair also. However, many people use the turntables for other types of music. I'm wondering, what is a good cartridge that allows for scratching but good sound reproduction for a wide variety of music? any help would be greatly appreciated. also, any suggestions for cheap sources of said cartridges?

I used to hear everything 800 hours. Maybe every 600 to 800 hours?

change them when they need it, depending on the usage (which I am somewhat unsure of), we just need something somewhat durable (able to handle stupid college kids who have no respect for anything) and have good sound reproduction over a wide frequency spectrum. i'll be scratching and mixing (to the extent that I can) but most others will just be playing old album cuts and whatnot, though we don't have the largest record collection
