It amounts to not much more than a Sims-like "outfit your room", but it's still cute.

I do like the fact that your Hero can get a dog, to helping with the explorin' and treasure diggin' and whatnot.

Apparently they had a guy whose sole job for the whole of development was doing the water reflections! They are so much prettier than any real world thing.

Hell, how many games have whaling as a gameplay element? It'll be 300 years before they're close to extinction; let's hunt us some beluga!
I've finally reached the point where G. Washington is in the game, during the Seven Years War bit.

I'm looking for an RTS warcraft style game that me and a friend can play online. Is AoE 3 the best?
― Two Meter Peter (Ste), Tuesday, 8 September 2020 09:25 (four years ago)
Tbh there's a reason the AoE2 scene is still very much alive and kicking while AoE3 languishes in comparative obscurity. StarCraft 1&2 remain RTS gold standards in terms of sheer competitiveness, but they're not for casuals (and I include myself in that category). I mean, neither is AoE2 at the highest levels, it just feels more forgiving due to its less kinetic pace.
― pomenitul, Tuesday, 8 September 2020 13:05 (four years ago)
seconding aoe2, classic. some old friends and i play matches online every couple months and it's a blast
― global tetrahedron, Tuesday, 8 September 2020 13:59 (four years ago)
Age of Empires II also had a remaster last year, so is the better-looking of the two.
― Andrew Farrell, Wednesday, 9 September 2020 13:29 (four years ago)
I assume Ste’s question was prompted by the more or less imminent release of AoE3’s own Definitive Edition on October 15, but I prefer AoE2’s folksier art style anyway. I’m hoping they’ll also take up Age of Mythology, which deserves way better than the half-assed remaster we got a few years ago.
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 9 September 2020 13:34 (four years ago)
correct sir.
I do like the look of II more if I'm honest. It's not currently breaking the bank so I think I'll give II a try and maybe III later this year.
