why does a tower burger seem so right when the daddy burger which is not much bigger seem so vulgar?

lukey (Lukey G), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 13:29 (twenty years ago)

maybe it's that "Daddy sauce" that they put in (i mean, the NAME is pretty vulgar!)

I have actually yet to taste a daddy burger! I always get distracted by the actual chicken meals. I want to try it out though.

I guess getting over the whole 'hashbrown?' thing was such an ordeal (though rewarding in the end) that i just can't face doing it all over agin with bacon.

lukey (Lukey G), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 13:37 (twenty years ago)

oh god i love the hash brown thing. but yeah the bacon requires a whole new level of training!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

so lukey you're a fellow 7 sisters road local??? (as in local resident rather than "local chicken" on archway road)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 13:50 (twenty years ago)

Darn, I was hoping this thread was about horses or whiskey or weed or something.

I didn't know KFC had burgers.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 13:57 (twenty years ago)

loca chicken, the least ambitious franchise ever. Though kennedy fried chicken (wood green i think) also rules...when you think about it. Yea Ken I'm a Tufnell Parker

Archway Perferct Chicken still rules the roost - KFC always seems too greasy now. 4 spicy 'wings' & chips for £1.50. yum.

I think the Daddy Burger seems revolting because it is not a nice idea to "chow down on daddy."

Filth, lovely filth.

Madchen (Madchen), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 14:21 (twenty years ago)

robster you obviously haven't tried SMOKY HILLS (i guess named after the smokey mountains). Chicken and chips deal for 99p!!! You get change from a pound coin!! plus chicken!

Plus the guy who runs it has a sense of humour - the last time i went in there, at Smoky Hills Fried Chicken, asked for chicken, and the boss told me "Sorry, WE RAN OUT OF CHICKEN!" hahahahhaa that joke made my night. except he wasn't joking - he ACTUALLY ran out of fried chicken despite this being their FLAGSHIP PRODUCT.

He sold me a chicken burger for half price to apologise. i love him.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

mmm meat sold for less than a pound mmm confidence-inspiring yum!

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 14:27 (twenty years ago)

But is the chicken any good (when extant)?

lock robster (robster), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 14:27 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, Nick, I was confused too.

The KFCs here have these $1 "snacker" sammiches that supposedly kick much ass. I haven't had a chance to try one yet, though. :(

sugarpants: bea arthur's secret lover (sugarpants), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 14:28 (twenty years ago)

the chicken is one of the best i've had, rob! tender and warm. try it next time.

the only place that had better chicken before was Arsenal Fried Chicken (i think that's the name... if so, see what they did there?? Arsenal FC!!), actually on seven sisters road, but the finsbury park bit.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 14:40 (twenty years ago)

$1 sandwich sounds amazing (i think here we have the 99p "mini fillet" burger)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 13 April 2005 14:40 (twenty years ago)

Might give it a go then. We have been a bit quiet on Indie Chicken lately.

Those mini-fillets don't look very satisfying. I'd need at least 3.
