Forget the Titanic, here are my top stories from this day in history:

-1956 First commercial videotape recorder (Ampex Corp.) demonstrated by its inventors Charles Ginsberg, Charles Anderson, and Ray Dolby simultaneously in Redwood City, California, and Chicago. CBS buys three machines for $75'000 each.
-Lincoln was shot 140 years ago today.
-Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language published in 1818.
-The Society for the Relief of Free Negroes Unlawfully held in Bondage, also called the Abolition Society, holds its first meeting in Philly.
-Handel died on this date in 1759, although from what I know of ILM, he won't be much grieved.
-Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick, "The Kingmaker" died on this date at Barnet in 1471. Thus ended one of the most singular political careers of any Englishman ever.
-Shuraik, known as Mani (The Illustrious) is born on this date in 216
-The defenders of Masada committed suiced on this date in 73.

The defenders of Masada committed suiced on this date in 73.

Surely they used the Hebrew calendar. 5 Nissan?

Also, according to this article here the 'spationautes' of the International Space Station will be eating Italian.

As tempted as I was to make a joke about Japanese cars, I will simply concede that you are probably right there, kenan.

Also in 2003, a Jonathan Williams, 15, was shot to death in the bleachers in the gymnasium of John McDonogh High School in New Orleans. This fact made me pause for exactly 2.7 seconds. The duration of said pause can be directly attributed to insufficient caffeine levels in my brane.
