My brain says french toast, but my heart says pancakes.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 April 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

Pancakes I think are better as a concept, but typically if you eat out it's easier to find good french toast than good pancakes. At least that's been my experience.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 14 April 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

omg, french toast soaked in egg mixture and fried in butter and topped with maple syrup or fruit compote things

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Thursday, 14 April 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

Sex on a pancake!

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Thursday, 14 April 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

Pain Perdu! I can only eat about 2 pancakes before I'm full.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 14 April 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

It comes down to toast vs. cake. Cake wins.

Stan Fields (Stan Fields), Thursday, 14 April 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

i have stopped making pancakes, such is the spell french toast has over me

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Thursday, 14 April 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

I'll always go for french toast if faced with the choice, but pancakes seem more versatile in a way. I just made some french toast and it's damn good.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Thursday, 14 April 2005 17:59 (twenty years ago)

Waffles. SUPERIOR DESIGN FOR MAXIMUM SYRUP SATURATION.

Zebra, Alpha Go! (cprek), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:00 (twenty years ago)

DEEP FRIED, oh damn

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

French toast. Unless they are chocolate chip pancakes, which win everything.

carly (carly), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

omg my mom used to fry french toast in shortening

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:05 (twenty years ago)

Zebra is right of course, we are a waffle-exclusive apartment now. Buying a high-quality waffle maker is the best decision I ever made. No more slaving over the stove for 45 mins making sour-cream pancakes or soaking bread in french toast juice, THE HEGEMONY OF THE WAFFLE IS COMPLETE.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

every waffle I've had has been tough and chewy

laurence kansas (lawrence kansas), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:07 (twenty years ago)

I pity you and the life you've led.

no fight, they're all good baby.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:16 (twenty years ago)

I found a non-Belgian wafflemaker last month and have been enjoying the extra surface area.

Zebra, Alpha Go! (cprek), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:26 (twenty years ago)

every waffle I've had has been tough and chewy
Sadly, me too. I've never had a good waffle...not even at Waffle House.

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

Use more syrup to soggen them up.

Zebra, Alpha Go! (cprek), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

You need to get a really good waffle. And Waffle House ain't the place.

This is like asking to choose your favorite child... Pancakes. Pancakes is my favorite child.

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 14 April 2005 18:55 (twenty years ago)

French toast with butter AND sugar AND syrup!

()ops (()()ps), Thursday, 14 April 2005 19:03 (twenty years ago)

French toast without hesitation. With toasted nuts.

Dan M. (OutDatWay), Thursday, 14 April 2005 19:09 (twenty years ago)

french toast though honestly those pictures don't make either look appealing

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 14 April 2005 19:15 (twenty years ago)

I want to make falafels in a waffle maker! FAWAFFLES!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 14 April 2005 19:18 (twenty years ago)

But I'd take my dad's pancakes over any french toast. Actually, they're more crepe-y than pancake-y, but not quite as thin as crepes.

()ops (()()ps), Thursday, 14 April 2005 19:19 (twenty years ago)

You're so fucking special...
BUT I'M A CREPE!

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Thursday, 14 April 2005 20:10 (twenty years ago)

Vat iz ze problem mit der Waffel Haus, please?

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 14 April 2005 20:13 (twenty years ago)

Either with strawberries.

57 7th (calstars), Thursday, 14 April 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

Dude, french toast. Pancakes can go fuck themselves.

Allyzay Subservient 50s-Type (allyzay), Thursday, 14 April 2005 20:31 (twenty years ago)

Though I'm not unconvinced that Belgian Waffles totally pants both of them, I mean it's breakfast but it's basically cake covered in super sugary fruit thing plus tons of whipped cream. I mean that can't go wrong.

Why do we always have to choose?

Ned Trifle II, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 13:51 (eighteen years ago)

You can have both but you damn well better tell us which one you like more.

Crepes>>> French Toast >>>>>>>> 'Merican Pancakes

Upt0eleven, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 13:56 (eighteen years ago)

I think I would have it the exact other way round. Merkin pancakes + bacon + maple syrup = drooool. Breakfast is my favourite thing about America.

ledge, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 13:58 (eighteen years ago)

this is just too apples & oranges.

I made pancakes this morning! I am trying not to freak out about them. They kind of creep me out. Or, pancake batter does. Because then I think about, well, maybe the pancakes aren't cooked all the way through, and I feel disgusted and shiver and... blrughgh.

French toast is too eggy, though. I don't like eggs. But then again French toast can be awesome, whereas pancakes are always pretty all right at best.

Casuistry, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 16:57 (eighteen years ago)

i like challah french toast, since challah bread is so eggy that it's already most of the way there.

Jordan, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

Cottage cheese pancakes>>>french toast>>regular pancakes

clotpoll, Wednesday, 2 January 2008 21:09 (eighteen years ago)

No way your children are as tasty.
