Labour -6     http://www.whoshouldyouvotefor.com/tiny_grey_light.gifConservative -49     http://www.whoshouldyouvotefor.com/tiny_grey_light.gifhttp://www.whoshouldyouvotefor.com/tiny_grey_dark.gif     Liberal Democrat 70UK Independence Party -17     http://www.whoshouldyouvotefor.com/tiny_grey_light.gifhttp://www.whoshouldyouvotefor.com/tiny_grey_dark.gif     Green 31

You should vote: Liberal Democrat

The LibDems take a strong stand against tax cuts and a strong one in favour of public services: they would make long-term residential care for the elderly free across the UK, and scrap university tuition fees. They are in favour of a ban on smoking in public places, but would relax laws on cannabis. They propose to change vehicle taxation to be based on usage rather than ownership.

The Green Party, which is of course strong on environmental issues, takes a strong position on welfare issues, but was firmly against the war in Iraq. Other key concerns are cannabis, where the party takes a liberal line, and foxhunting, which unsurprisingly the Greens are firmly against.

EVERYONE GETS LD!!!

i think that because they have hijacked a couple of more socialist principles and that this poll (or, to be fair, this election) doesn't have a proper socialist option for to pick we are all skewing towards LD

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 15 April 2005 08:32 (twenty years ago)

Is this run by the Lib Dem party or what? Who coded this thing?

I think that anti-war bias is probably skewering the vote - three questions on The War and only one on transport? Reverse the proportion and I'd probably have come out a Green.

You should vote: Conservative

The Conservative Party is strongly against joining the Euro and against greater use of taxation to fund public services. The party broadly supported the Iraq war and backs greater policing and ID cards. The Tories are against increasing the minimum wage above the rate of inflation, and have committed to abolishing university tuition fees. They support 'virtual vouchers' for private education.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 15 April 2005 09:57 (twenty years ago)

hein? that says you scored 35 on labour and 13 on tories, yet you should still vote tory, i'm confused...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 15 April 2005 09:58 (twenty years ago)

er, it was minus 35 on labour

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 15 April 2005 09:59 (twenty years ago)

What might be more interesting, though, is to ponder how many of these responses are honest. Did people make their choices because they thought it would look good on ILE, as opposed to what they really think (and how in turn they may actually think when they're at the ballot box)?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 15 April 2005 10:00 (twenty years ago)

oh yes, i thoguht that was just a dash, silly me.

i was trying consciously *not* to give LD answers but as i mentioned above, in the simplistic way it's done they are often the nearest fit...

i got vote lib dem, minus 19 labour, minus 40 tory.

i won't actually vote, i don't think.

in absolute honesty i put down a lot of neutrals because the agenda was extraordinarily narrow. most issues i could not give a fuck about -- classification of cannabis or fox hunting, for example: big fucking deal.

NR_Q, Friday, 15 April 2005 10:09 (twenty years ago)

i put neutral for many, because i didnt like the way the questions were phrased, (there was a touch of "when did you stop beating your wife?" about some of them i thought)

charltonlido (gareth), Friday, 15 April 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

but do we think that foxhunting should only be allowed if foxhunters are on cannabis?

Does UKIP have a chance sans Kilroy?

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 15 April 2005 10:20 (twenty years ago)

I did this test a few days ago, before the link, and I was LD too (which I am in real life, and will be voting for). I was alarmed to see, however, that I was also in positive territory for the UKIP (as well as the greens, which is less alarming).

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 15 April 2005 10:20 (twenty years ago)

I am a slightly green lib dem.

Alix with an i? (alix), Friday, 15 April 2005 10:21 (twenty years ago)

Doubtless the Conservatives' hysteria on immigration was a kneejerk attempt to win back potential defectors to UKIP/Veritas/B*P, with the likely result that the latter have all been pushed back firmly to the margins. However, recent polls show that the Tory stance on immigration is pushing floating voters back to Labour.

This makes no sense, I answered neutrally to the cannabis and road tax questions and strongly against the smoking ban yet it lists those policies as a reason for voting LD.

I can't work out how I got +11 for UKIP, are they in favour of allowing asylum seekers to work? Does their lack of policy on most of these issues give them an edge with neutral answers? Do I have an inner fascist?
