A scientific musical theory, based on the human heartbeat!

(He splits beer atoms).

luna (luna.c), Friday, 15 April 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

I misread this as "Young Frankenstein", and was about to despair of humanity.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 15 April 2005 16:37 (twenty years ago)

At the time I saw it, I wouldn't have kicked him out of bed for splitting atoms.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 15 April 2005 16:42 (twenty years ago)

So that bathtub photo was your hot pinup for a while, is what you're saying.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 15 April 2005 16:45 (twenty years ago)

that chick from the dambuilders was obviously inspired greatly by this film.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Friday, 15 April 2005 16:47 (twenty years ago)

it's better than that movie where Pauly Shore plays Leon Trotsky

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Friday, 15 April 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Friday, 15 April 2005 16:52 (twenty years ago)

i always wish they'd do an abraham lincoln movie like this. that would rock! honest abe growing up as a grape-squasher/wine-maker in the jungles of arizona or something.

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Friday, 15 April 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

after gaining fame in the battlefields og gettysburg, abe is crowned president. he is assassinated by a male fashion model named Johan Wilkesbuth.

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Friday, 15 April 2005 16:57 (twenty years ago)

A scene where Abe spins around, knocks Wilkesbuth's pistol from his hand, and then sinks his hand into the would-be assassin's chest, removing his still-beating heart and showing it to the Ford's Theater crowd, which then gives him a standing ovation amid chants of "Four more years!"

No, what I'm saying is that I wanted to fuck Yahoo Serious blind.

AN AUSTRALIAN

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Friday, 15 April 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

heath ledger?

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Friday, 15 April 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

that was my first thought actually!

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Friday, 15 April 2005 17:07 (twenty years ago)

he's too short. we'll have to get him some stilts.

jill schoelen is the queen of my dreams! (Homosexual II), Friday, 15 April 2005 17:09 (twenty years ago)

that would figure in the plot somehow...his stilts hide the weapons he used to defeat the redcoats at gettysburg. his stovepipe hat hides a machete.

latebloomer: strawman knockdowner (latebloomer), Friday, 15 April 2005 17:11 (twenty years ago)

and it would HAVE to be the redcoats that he defeated

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Friday, 15 April 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

Hugo Weaving

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Friday, 15 April 2005 17:53 (twenty years ago)

i saw the end of yahoo serious's SECOND movie on tv recently and it was so, so horrifying.

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 16 April 2005 00:37 (twenty years ago)

You Yanks made him famous! He was nothing here until he made it in your country. You have only yourselves to blame.

moley, Saturday, 16 April 2005 00:40 (twenty years ago)

actually he looks like an emaciated Dennis Quaid up there.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Saturday, 16 April 2005 02:02 (twenty years ago)

but i don't think there's anything WRONG w/ him!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 16 April 2005 02:03 (twenty years ago)

j blount (papa la bas), Saturday, 16 April 2005 02:11 (twenty years ago)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 16 April 2005 02:12 (twenty years ago)

I am not ashamed of liking Young Einstein. I am also unashamed about liking UHF.

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Saturday, 16 April 2005 13:30 (twenty years ago)

Someone should release both of those in a DVD-paring, like The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles.

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Saturday, 16 April 2005 13:30 (twenty years ago)

Thank god for Malcolm Young. He over-rides Mr Serious'z crimes.

The Velvet Overlord (The Velvet Overlord), Saturday, 16 April 2005 14:01 (twenty years ago)

there's a scene in this movie where einstein walks into a classroom and the professor has written "e = " on the top of the board followed by the entire board filled with mathematical gibberish. einstein wipes it clean and replaces it with mc^2. the prof throws him out the window.

a banana (alanbanana), Saturday, 16 April 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

the only thing i remember about this movie is that every time he shows the equation to someone, they go "...emc?"

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Saturday, 16 April 2005 22:42 (twenty years ago)

For some reason the last two posts make me want to beat somebody.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 17 April 2005 02:01 (twenty years ago)

i think i mentioned mr serious taught a class when i was in art school. he was awful (read: he snubbed my script idea)

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Sunday, 17 April 2005 05:11 (twenty years ago)

he's kinda cute for a redhead. i think the whole australian accent is clouding my judgement, though.

maria tessa sciarrino (theoreticalgirl), Sunday, 17 April 2005 05:58 (twenty years ago)

i also remember that the ads for the movie went "yahoo serious IS...young einstein!" as if yahoo serious were some kind of long-established name in showbiz.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Sunday, 17 April 2005 09:55 (twenty years ago)

I am not ashamed of liking Young Einstein. I am also unashamed about liking UHF.

Hell yes! Though I'd say UHF is even more ridiculously good.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 17 April 2005 10:02 (twenty years ago)

And you're very correct on that.

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Sunday, 17 April 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

(The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Saturday, 29 February 2020 06:21 (six years ago)

things you weren't expecting to find in someone's wiki page:

After being expelled from art school, Serious co-wrote, co-produced, edited and directed at age 21 his first film, Coaltown, "with the assistance of the Australian Film Institute". Released in 1977, Coaltown explores the social and political history of coal mining.

(The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Saturday, 29 February 2020 06:24 (six years ago)

i mean ‘serious’ is right there in the name tho

Generous Grant for Stepladder Creamery (bizarro gazzara), Saturday, 29 February 2020 08:51 (six years ago)

In August 2000, Yahoo Serious tried to sue the search engine Yahoo! for trademark infringement. The case was thrown out because Serious could not prove that he sells products or services under the name "Yahoo" and therefore could not prove that he suffered harm or confusion due to the search engine.

sorry for butt rockin (Neanderthal), Saturday, 29 February 2020 15:19 (six years ago)

His brother Google Serious was similarly unsuccessful with his lawsuit
