Just to make it more specific as there are three older separate threads.

Today:

Massive dusting of just about everywhere
Throwing the windows fully open to let a good crossbreeze through
Thorough scrubbing of the bathroom and kitchen
Organizing a lot of random stuff that had been sitting around and trashing a lot of it
Cleaning up the CD collection one more time (still a few things left on the floor but not much)
Organizing the 'to read' library books properly on their own shelf
Sweeping the front porch
Getting 20 GB of files off the computer
Putting the loose change together

Etc. etc. etc. A fine day's work.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 17 April 2005 23:12 (twenty years ago)

Ned's the Imelda Marcos of Costa Mesa.

Now I have this image of Imelda as a CD fiend.

Today, I got out of bed and made some coffee to prepare myself for the long stretch of grueling cleaning ahead. As I drank the coffee, I decided, hey, why not have breakfast? Some sausages, marmite-y toast and a duo of delicious eggs, sunny side up. As I was wating the breakfast I thought, why not get some emails and things done, maybe save some time later. I log immediately onto AIM and ILX and begin chatting with rutherford and Ken C. Ken C calls me on the phone, and the shenanigans continue for about an hour. I hang up, and my Mom calls. Then I decide my teeth are brown and I go pick my sister up, asking her to come to the store with me to get some teeth whitener. We roflmao around Target for about 2 hours. I take her home, eat dinner and log onto ILE where I post to the Spring Cleaning thread.

Then, and only then.

Well, I thought about cleaning too, but I just got my chain saw tuned up and am working on next winter's firewood. I'd really like to wash the windows, but until the winter sand is swept up from the street it's futile to even start. It's a dustbowl outside when a car goes by.

Ned, you sound very good at this, but it seems like you're running out of things to do. Give me a call, and I can give you _lots_ of more things to clean (in Hollywood) (in my apt) (in my bathtub, esp)

Vic in Alderaan (Vic), Monday, 18 April 2005 03:46 (twenty years ago)

i came back yesterday evening, having been staying at colette's for a few days, to find that my flatmate had completely cleaned our flat to an almost alarming degree (including putting all the cds back in the chest they're kept in for the first time in over a year, washing all the floors, cleaning the top of the fridge etc etc). pretty cool. still, i have a load of stuff to do; this evening will be all about selling old clothes/magazines/minidiscs etc on ebay, and beginning the fun of burning the 20gb of mp3s on my old computer to cdrs so i can get rid of it.

OK, so I posted this already on another thread, but I'm so pleased with this that I have to post it here again...

My spring cleaning project was the garden. I knew we had a big garden, but most of it has been burried under this weird DIY/art project of my housemate's, and piles and piles of thornbush clippings that everyone has been too scared to move.

So yesterday I went after the thornbush with a rusty breadknife, a shovel and a broom. I moved the tarp over the DIY Art thing to discover it was really a bookcase, so I moved it over to the side of the garden and stuck all the DIY crap on its shelves. Brushed away the dirt and the leaves and hacked at the thornbush and the ubiquitous vines, and discovered that...

I HAVE THIS WHOLE LANDSCAPED PATIO IN MY GARDEN!!! There's paved bits and gravelly bits and about five stone benches and a little grotto and even a built-in BBQ area. With the bushes trimmed and the dirt gone, it's really, really lovely. There's even a climbing frame for roses, but no roses in the planters.

First BBQ of the summer will be this Saturday, weather permitting.

I feel really proud and really pleased.
