My spring cleaning project was the garden. I knew we had a big garden, but most of it has been burried under this weird DIY/art project of my housemate's, and piles and piles of thornbush clippings that everyone has been too scared to move.
So yesterday I went after the thornbush with a rusty breadknife, a shovel and a broom. I moved the tarp over the DIY Art thing to discover it was really a bookcase, so I moved it over to the side of the garden and stuck all the DIY crap on its shelves. Brushed away the dirt and the leaves and hacked at the thornbush and the ubiquitous vines, and discovered that...
I HAVE THIS WHOLE LANDSCAPED PATIO IN MY GARDEN!!! There's paved bits and gravelly bits and about five stone benches and a little grotto and even a built-in BBQ area. With the bushes trimmed and the dirt gone, it's really, really lovely. There's even a climbing frame for roses, but no roses in the planters.
First BBQ of the summer will be this Saturday, weather permitting.
I feel really proud and really pleased.
