TS: Food-Court Fast food vs. non-kiosked versions

is it just me, or do mall food court fast food stands seem both cleaner and faster than their non-mall counterparts?

seems like you'd have a faster turnaround of stock in the mall, since there may not be a large storage space, and health codes would be either stricter or more adhered to. but maybe im just rationalizing. Still, i get the distinct impression that the fast food experience in a food court is a notch above the regular outlet version.

my position is clear.

You spend too much time at fast-food places.

I've had good and bad experiences with Sbarro. But I prefer Chick-Fil-A, because I'd eat it on the outside. You know what I miss, though? Mrs. Field's. Are there any places out there that still have this in the malls? The closest mall to me used to have a Mrs. Field's and it was awesome to get the little cup of mini cookies. At around that same time, the same mall had a Wendy's, so obv that was, like, my favorite mall evah. Now the place that used to have a Wendy's has nothing (it temporarily had a good independent burger place after Wendy's left) and the place that used to be Mrs. Field's is now a pretty lame candy store. Curiously enough, this mall still has its Sbarro.

Anyway, end of ramble. Fast food from a food court is good because of its convenience and because you can eat it in an environment learned professionals have thought about and planned out very meticulously. And because everything appears cleaner. That's the point I should've made from the beginning, but oh well.

I hadn't had a single item of food from McDonalds between '97 (when Jon Wi11iams and I scammed free shakes or something in Providence) and '05, when I ordered a small fries in Bakersfield. And I gotta be honest -- they were pretty great fries.

I got food poisoning once from the Panda Express.

HOT DOG ON A STICK owns this thread.

I first got in touch with my sexuality as a pre-adolescent by spending many a day at the Santa Monica Mall staring at those colorfully dressed Hot Dog On A Stick girls pumpin' that lemonade.

There's one at the Westlake Center Mall in downtown Seattle, although the ones that work there are indifferent indie boys. Not much drive or pumping happening at that one.

As someone who is often left without a lot of non fast-food options, I agree that mall fast food tends to be better.

The best thing ever (only at some Sbarro's) is the food bar -- you can actually get quite a bit of relatively healthy and tasty food for a reasonable price, especially if you load up on lighter-weight items (as you pay-per-pound).

the garlic knots at Sbarro are kinda stale but CHEAP! You can get a huge honkin' one for fifty cents. And they're not that bad. The pizza, however, is overpriced and tastes like ass.

Uh, donut, next time I'm in Seattle, can we watch the indie boys at the Hot Dog on a Stick?

You Turkington fan, you.
