38/44 spot on, average error 85 miles, 86% correct. I got Moldova too south as well - I think I dropped it in Turkey somewhere. And I forgot how close Malta is to Sicily. My first one was the Vatican, which I got absolutely spot on.

77% 34/44 with an average error of 227 miles, due in large part to the fact that they led me off with Moldova and Lativa, that was rough. Also I confused Lichtenstein and Luxembourg which was frustrating. Those microcountries are tricky.

Part of the spoils of World War II -- that was part of what was East Prussia, specifically centered around the city of Konigsberg, one of the (if not the) original seat of the Prussian kingdom. The name's been changed to Kaliningrad and so it remains. The area has strategic value as a warm water port and obvious symbolic value given WWI and II and etc.
