robster (robster), Friday, 22 April 2005 08:53 (twenty years ago)

FIFTY-THREE OUT OF FIFTY-THREE!

It also says 'average error 0 miles' but that cannot be true, my Burkina Faso was further out than some of the US states which got marked inaccurate on the other one.

The Lex (The Lex), Friday, 22 April 2005 08:54 (twenty years ago)

42/53 Average error 189 miles.

At least I was in the right vicinity with those errors.

I am so ashamed that I mixed up Swaziland and Lesotho considering I have been to both. :-(

Lapdog Shoesnog (kate), Friday, 22 April 2005 09:20 (twenty years ago)

Lee F# (fsharp), Friday, 22 April 2005 09:53 (twenty years ago)

For Gawd's sake, I only know ONE.

The Irrelevant Man (Negativa) (Barima), Friday, 22 April 2005 10:25 (twenty years ago)

47/53, 147 miles. The mileage is down to being 4000 miles out on the Comoros.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 22 April 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

29/53. I basically only know some of the larger ones (Nigeria, Egypt, Madagascar, Algeria, Congo, etc.) and was able to fill in a lot by puzzle.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 22 April 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

53/53, 0 miles (I look at maps quite a lot) - but the program adjusted a couple of positions after I released early on, so they are obviously disregarding errors up to some limit.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 22 April 2005 12:04 (twenty years ago)

I'm not gonna say, 'cos I accidentally dropped one of 'em on the wrong side of the continent.

Shatterproof Glass (dymaxia), Friday, 22 April 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

'One of 'em'?

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 22 April 2005 12:22 (twenty years ago)

yes, mine wasn't perfect either, mauritania particularly foxed me...

i only got 40/44 on the european one (FYR Macedonia, Monaco, Malta and Vatican City (i knew it was in italy, but put it a bit too far north))

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 22 April 2005 12:26 (twenty years ago)

I thought I'd do better on the Europe one, but it was a bit difficult to place some of the smaller ones without the larger countries to guide me.

Hurting (Hurting), Friday, 22 April 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

45/53, 85%, 228 miles. i was waaay off on a lot of these.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 22 April 2005 15:00 (twenty years ago)

48/53, 22 miles avg. error, 353 secs. For some reason they considered Sudan off even though on other counrties I got correct I was further away than that. I messed up Zambia and Zimbabwe because I'm so used seeing this very outdated map in my American Government classroom reporting them as Northern and Southern Rhodesia, and so I thought Zambia was further away from where it actually was because I forgot that it's the new name of Northern Rhodesia, and I couldn't remember how close Zimbabwe was to the Indian Ocean, as I thought it was further inland. I was just slightly off on Benin and Sao Tome & Principe.

Ian Riese-Moraine. To Hell with you and your gradual evolution! (Eastern Mantra), Friday, 22 April 2005 15:22 (twenty years ago)

god i am such an idiot

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 22 April 2005 15:38 (twenty years ago)

That's why the average isn't too meaningful: there are a few places you could be insanely far out on, and you get one of those wrong and it looks like you are lousy at it.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 22 April 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

Ambrose, that was my problem w/ the Comoros.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 22 April 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

30/53, 427 miles, 329 seconds

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 23 April 2005 05:26 (twenty years ago)

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 23 April 2005 06:37 (twenty years ago)

Racists.

Shatterproof Glass (dymaxia), Saturday, 23 April 2005 11:35 (twenty years ago)

50 out of 53, 13 miles. I can live with that!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 23 April 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

49/53. 38 miles out. Not bad considering I got all the wee, coastlineless, countries first, so had a bit of guesswork to do.

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 23 April 2005 12:02 (twenty years ago)

ten years pass...

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-32724083

Burundi general just led a coup ( I looked up where that southeastern African nation is located)

curmudgeon, Wednesday, 13 May 2015 13:26 (ten years ago)

Read that some folks are glad for the coup because they thought the Prez there was going to give himself a dictatorial third term.
