Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law

Having loved episodes i caught while visiting the states, i got the DVD set from Amoeba last week... And I love it. The best of all the Adult Swim I've seen before, with the referencing and the dead-air comedy of Sealab, with the tighter surreality of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Tell me I'm not alone here...

Hey, we didn't meet up! Grr, grr!

we got to amoeba at 10.30pm, it was on a whim (and a wednesday) - next time for sure though (which looks like it will be soon)!

I love Harvey, but I haven't got the dvd yet...maybe I'll pick it up this weekend. If it weren't for the Venture Brothers this would be the best show in the Adult Swim lineup.

What the pippin' hot cuppa said.

The best one is the one where he gets really angry and wants to fight people and scream, and basically ignores Dennis Miller then entire episode.

wait a second I'm talking about Space Ghost! I shouldn't post before coffee.

the best Harvey Birdman, not Space Ghost, is difficult to say because they're all pretty classic. I will say, though, that if Adult Swim repeats the Scooby Doo one one more time I will fucking harm someone there. It was funny the first 3 times! Now it is not.

Oh dear. *mentally notes another DVD set to eventually get at some point or other*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 April 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

That's really my only problem with Harvey Birdman, Cartoon Network runs far too many repeats of old episodes.

x-post

I still cry with laughter at the Jetsons one when they're trying to walk to Harvey's desk.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 April 2005 12:54 (twenty years ago)

The reruns were ESPECIALLY annoying before the "2nd season" began - way too much Scooby & Jabberwocky (& the first part of the Dynomutt thing), not enough X! Thee EeeeliminayTOR, just enough Unabooboo & Dabba Don.

Painfully funny. Love it.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 22 April 2005 13:59 (twenty years ago)

i think this is the (secret) greatest show on adult swim. aqua teens are scattershot and if an episode is unfunny it's going to stay that way. birdman is pretty consistently damn funny. steven colbert, too.

el sabor did you get that thing i sent you? (yournullfame), Friday, 22 April 2005 14:22 (twenty years ago)

OMG THERE'S A DVD!!!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 22 April 2005 14:44 (twenty years ago)

I need to order this, and the Brak Show set, and some other things, but my address is about to change and I have to wait more.

TOMBOT, Friday, 22 April 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

Same here :(

This show is a joy.

I loved the unexpected charm of Jobim's "Aguas de Marco" deut with Marco and Debbie in Sealab 2021. Like a low-budget Fantasia for gloomy 18-34's.

Aqua Teen fascinates me: I'm horrified as much as enchanted by that bizarre little ball of meat.

I hate that f**king Hippo.

django (django), Saturday, 23 April 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

Just picked up the DVD set. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, of course. Rather strikingly, the Space Ghost episodes simply haven't aged as well. Still Aqua Teen Hunger Force rules them all.

i didnt like this at first, but it's grown on me.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 19 September 2005 22:25 (twenty years ago)

i kinda feel like this branch of humor based entirely on making fun of old hanna-barbera cartoons is getting played out.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 19 September 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

My favorite still has to be the Johnny Quest episode. There's nothing like a gay Race Banon!

Tree of Stars, Monday, 19 September 2005 22:55 (twenty years ago)

Robert Osborne from TCM introducing the "Turner Classic Birdman" episode was indeed classic.

I'd say so far the season has been better than season one but not as good as last season.
