A through Z? Hm.

Darth Vader and Goldie -- the two fishies circa me when I was seven. They kept dying and being replaced.

Lexie -- the current family dog, and a wonderfully mad beast, a golden lab.

Sally -- the first family dog in my memories, a lab/Doberman mutt. She was a sweetie, but terribly scared about thunder.

Suzy -- the second family dog, a black lab. I was the one who picked her out, so I always had a special fondness for her. Alas, she died young (10 years) due to digestive problems.

Tory -- had a series of hamsters, one after another, in the early eighties. I named them after my aunt's nickname because it sounded like the right thing to call a hamster. ;-) All very fuzzy and sweet.

Thee major pets would be the dogs Magic and Deleware and my long, lost ferret Belladonna.

Beyond this, there have been 40 or so Giant Schnauzers through the house, as my Dad is a breeder/trainer of sorts. The most we had in the house at once was 12. 10 of which were little sausage sized new born pups. We've also had a chameleon, a few cockateels, and some fishies.

Louis - own cat, beautiful, complex, proud, Main Coone-ish.

Sebastian - family cat, aloof, great hunter, put down after assualt by unknown animal.

Tigga - first family cat, adopted stray, sweet, adorable, followed bro to school one day + killed by car. devastated.

stevo, Sunday, 9 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tom 'n' Tessa - previous cats. Tom was lovely, Tessa was mean. I was very young and tormented Tom endlessly but he didn't mind.

Muffy - Cat found under a car and taken into our home. She slept around a bit though.

Kesia - replacement cat. Very stately, dignified and antisocial.

Zuleika - my kitty-kat. Beautiful, jumpy, insane and antisocial - also from Uzbekistan, would you believe. Kesia didn't like her, until...

Sebastian - my adorable half-supa-smart half-unbelievably-dumb new black labrador puppy, against whom Kesia and Zuleika felt compelled to form a coalition.

My mother has always owned a black poodle; it's the law. No funny haircuts and when it dies, a reinforcement arrives within two weeks. This is no joke. More black miniature poodles have been through our house than there were drummers in Spinal Tap.

Sam 'went to live on a farm', aged five, due to three-year-old me thinking it would be a great idea to milk him (bastard animal segments on Sesame Sreet). Three sets of stitches later - he tried to chew my face off - it was clear Sam had major issues with being milked.

Tuffy was beautiful and dumb and went walkies on the nearest highway when he was two. D'oh.

Casey was okay until he was eight and love rivals with the neighbour's Great Dane, Jagger. I was just in the middle of asking another neighbour if she'd seen the dog, and we turned to find Jagger shaking Casey like a dish rag.

The second Casey was a gift from the neighbours who owned Jagger. He was very hyper and lost an eye as a reaction to having his vaccinations. He was run down by another neighbour's high-school aged son when he was three.

Molly was my 16th birthday present, and the only dog we've ever had who died of old age (she was 17). She was Helldog and would bark at people who shouted at her, and would register annoyance with her dry food by picking the light-coloured kibble pieces out of her bowl, scattering them on the floor, and chomping down on the dark crunchy bits outside my mother's bedroom door, the most acoustically sensitive part of the house. The only things she was scared of were a red devil hand puppet my mother has for some reason, and what happened when the rubber bands she occasionally ate made their exit.

Willie is now two and already knows how to set off the power windows to roll down when my sister takes the car to drive-through car washes, thus drenching her.

We also had two black rabbits, Muggs and Bluebell. Muggs knew how to ride on toboggans and in front-of-bike baskets. I stopped having golfish after the age of five, when I liberated the ones we had via the flush method.

OH GOD.

I remember having a cat named Spot when I was a baby. I later was kind of adopted by a German Shepard named Roxanne; it was my dad's dog but it preferred me, much to my chagrin. As a teenager, I had a siamese cat named Lovely. She had kittens with my sister's cat, Schmoo, which I named Jarvis Bunnyboy, Yoda, Spiderman, Yodette, and Jim. We only kept Spiderman, the rest were sold. Lovely died not long afterwards. When I moved away, I gave Spiderman to my sister and he has since developed a strangely pronounced Lenoesque jaw. In New York I came into possession of a little black kitten who I named Mr. Kitty who now lives with Tom Millar.

Those are all my pets.

However, my mother has had at least 67 dogs, 4 additional cats, a DONKEY, three goats, some ducks, and innumerable birds within the span of my lifetime. I cannot remember the names of the majority of these animals but the ones at the house now are Zeus, Kali, and Zelda (German Shepards), Petey (a Boston Terrier), Moo Shu (a Chihuahua), Schmoo and Spiderman. My sister had a hamster but I think the cat ate it or something like that.

Allyzay, Thursday, 4 March 2004 01:06 (twenty-one years ago)

At one point we definitely had a Rottweiler, a Doberman, and a German Shepard all living in a two bedroom apartment with us. The newspaper boy shit his pants every time he left the paper.

CATS
Sultry - Died of leukemia. R.I.P.
Freddy - Given away when my family moved back to the states from Italy where I was born. Presumably dead by now. R.I.P.
Sidney - Run over by a car. R.I.P.
Sindy - My baby princess super kitty, still alive at almost ten years old (she's sleeping on my bed as I write this).
Skittles - Almost 5 years old, a sweet if rambunctious crazy kitty.

RABBITS
Thumper - Got rid of him, he was very destructive and thought my mom was a female bunny...ewww.

TOADS
Kermit (let him go after keeping him for a summer).

GOLDFISH
Not worth mentioning, they all died within a day.

FLEAS
Came with the cats, but we got rid of them finally.

I love dogs, I might get one whenever I move out of my parents' house.

I've never haved pets before, but I'm soon going to get a cat, sort of. My new flatmate will be moving in in a couple of weeks, and she has a cat. I've often thought of getting myself a cat, but I'm afraid I couldn't handle the responsibility. So this is a great situation, because I will obviously do my share in taking care of the cat, but I won't need to be concerned about it until the day it dies (it's quite young).

The cat is called "Guinea-pig", by the way. I have no idea why.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 4 March 2004 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

its 2004,

Billy the Guinea pig roams my house.
yay
