marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:24 (twenty years ago)

champagne, on a sunday night? what wondrous occasion merits such a thing?

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:25 (twenty years ago)

I was trying to get Glasgow to go pub quizzing. But Glasgow is not up for it. So instead I am listening to the mister grumping about work I can't help him with, and being bored. I should open some wine, but I have work tomorrow.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

i decided to go get a couple of efes.

this has been the quietest weekend i can remember, where did everyone go?

stars of the lid are playing, in the background, its summer, could it be, that i have let a weekend of summer pass me by?

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:38 (twenty years ago)

I totally needed a beer last night. Was working til midnight, which gave me an hour to find somewhere to drink, and drink. Managed to find somewhere and have 2 pints. Get drinking and you will feel as good as I did last night.

Craig Gilchrist (Craig Gilchrist), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

i'm around. still getting over a cold. i would LOVE a beer.

my friend flicka (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:44 (twenty years ago)

i drank a lot last night. it was fun.

now i am at work and i cannot drink, altho beisbol makes me want to have a cold one.

hi gareth!

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

also i had two beers at SHEA STADIUM yesterday, speakin of beisbol.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:47 (twenty years ago)

Just back from Liverpool/Prescott Lancs. I have one beer in the fridge, I haven't the energy to trek out though.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:48 (twenty years ago)

this is the first weekend that hasnt been super packed in months. and, its been the opposite extreme!

stencil, i nearly bought 2 bob james lps i dont have today! heads, and touchdown

i also saw a spoken word lp with ron carter on it! pete hamill's murder at kent state. it was expensive though.

i bid on dvdrs of the changes and timeslip on ebay. 70s rural science fiction is britain only answer to californian/italian dominance of my brain (68-74)

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:49 (twenty years ago)

i started threads on penda's fen, and edda dell'orso yesterday, but they didnt get many responses. well, none, in one case

i nearly bought the dead texan thing as well, but, i hate the packaging!

ed, are you in on tuesday?

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:51 (twenty years ago)

i can't stop sneezing!

my friend flicka (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:51 (twenty years ago)

oh i don't have those!

i have bought a lot of music lately: the 2nd cymande lp, an ivor cutler lp, the vu box set, the air conditioning cd, a yasunao tone/hecker cd, erica pomerance cd, speed to roam, etc. i also bought some dvds for the first time ever. and i had a six pack of newcastle in my fridge but it's gone now.

gareth you should fly over for the derby party, duderman.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:52 (twenty years ago)

ps. ron carter is my homie!

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:52 (twenty years ago)

i took a picture of myself for the what do you look like thread. im wearing that hat again

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:52 (twenty years ago)

there is a picture of me from shea yesterday that i should put on that thread!

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:53 (twenty years ago)

that party is May 7? i was actually going to be there, potentially, at that time, but i cant afford it really. despite that i nearly booked a flight to LA today, though, really, i want to be there in 1971. so, stockholm it is, then whitechapel on the 7th

put the pic up!

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:54 (twenty years ago)

they are in lewisham you know, the others. but, its a secret!

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:55 (twenty years ago)

tuesday, nothing planed, although nick is here I think.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

i have a few records (moggi, bobby brown, onstage majority, martin denny, francois de roubaix) i was going to try and mp3 if you weren't busy

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 18:59 (twenty years ago)

Everyone fly over here and have beers with me. Er, please?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:01 (twenty years ago)

i put it up!

sorry you can't make it gareth. we really need to hang out sometime, i keep missing you.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:03 (twenty years ago)

My stylus is naffed if that's what you were intending.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:03 (twenty years ago)

argh, thats no good ed

i plan to be in nyc at some point again over summer stence (stockholm is up first, hopefully, then dc-wheeling-pittsburgh, then maybe vancouver, then nyc again)

im sort of obsessed with LA though, i really want to go (i was looking at flights for next friday, someone stop me i cant really do it!)

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:05 (twenty years ago)

stence, have you heard california montage by dave grusin?

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:06 (twenty years ago)

what could follow love generation-davegrusin-piero piccioni on a cali-italia earlys 70s stripey topped summer time vibes open top sports car before imminent death type mixcd?

i was thinking umiliani, but i need something socal again first

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:08 (twenty years ago)

love island by deodato is a bit too late period, for this?

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:09 (twenty years ago)

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:12 (twenty years ago)

im sort of obsessed with LA though, i really want to go (i was looking at flights for next friday, someone stop me i cant really do it!)

Don't! Next weekend is all booked up already for me, you see.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:15 (twenty years ago)

i have only heard of grusin, i am not familiar with him tho.

i am thinking of going out to la and other points west when the beisbol season's over, but it sort of depends on my apartment situation then.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

i love california

i also am enamoured of beer

perhaps, i should go to the off licence (the one on seven sisters road, that i mentioned before), and get some more. that should be ok, shouldnt it?

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

You are strange about the past, Gareth.

I would have a beer with you but I am far away and also sort of starstruck. You should have one anyway, though.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:46 (twenty years ago)

I just trod the 33 steps to the offy for another bottle.

Ed (dali), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:47 (twenty years ago)

i trod the more than 33 but surely less than 100 to the off licence

i am quite strange about the past, you are right. how far away are you greg, are you in canada yet?

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:51 (twenty years ago)

I really like the title of this thread. Nice work.

The Silent Disco of Glastonbury (Bimble...), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:57 (twenty years ago)

I'm in Oxford, still! I'll be in London in a month or so, for about two more weeks, then away. There could be dancing or dance music or something? I emailed a lawyer today and read books, things are busy. Also I put Porter Wagoner on a mixtape for a girl in Montreal, oh dear.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Sunday, 24 April 2005 20:03 (twenty years ago)

which wagoner track did you put on? what else did you put on?

does anyway know malvicino? i nearly bought a malvicino record, it looked good!

there will almost certainly be dancing, and equally certainly, there will be something, though i seem to have run out. does anyone have any #$$%^&*?

charltonlido (gareth), Sunday, 24 April 2005 20:06 (twenty years ago)

this has been the quietest weekend i can remember, where did everyone go?

i was at an 'i'm-not-at-atp' party, drinking red wine and coca cola, with a screwdriver in my rucksack should anyone ask me to prove that i'd come as Lee Ranaldo.

stevie (stevie), Sunday, 24 April 2005 21:00 (twenty years ago)

gareth tell me more about grusin and malvicino, pls.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 24 April 2005 23:20 (twenty years ago)

you should've come bowling Gareth, I would love to have seen that! did you eat any food this weekend? i still refuse to believe that you eat. this weekend i at ostrich salami and drank Swedish pear and apple ciders. i felt like a King.

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 25 April 2005 08:08 (twenty years ago)

oh, i didnt know of this bowling. i would liked to have come, maybe. i ate some food.

i dont know anything about malvicino, other than the record looked good. i think grusin is a smoothjazz kind of guy in the james/washington jr/deodato kind of mould, though california montage is from 68 and is more of an easy/softpop type song that sounds like the theme to a film about some kids on california in the late 60s that wear striped sweaters and find some luminous minerals in a cave in the hill at the back of their whitebread suburban neighborhood, that their families told them not to trespass on, and its been fenced off by the government, and theres a mean and nasty man who is onto them, and he also works at the legal firm, where one of the striped sweatered kids fathers works, and he plots to trap them in the cave so that other people dont find out about his lucrative operation, but the kids escape via a secret passage that goes back to pre-historic times before california was settled, when there some mystic indians, the spirit of one coming back to help them escape, and also to expose the bad mans mining operation, and they are heroes and the mystic indians sacred land is no longer being pillaged by the bad men, and they can rest, knowing they are no longer being violated

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 25 April 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

actually, that might have been the sandpipers song, not grusin

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 25 April 2005 08:24 (twenty years ago)

i'm sorry i was rubbish this weekend. if it's nice tomorrow, let's go for one drink (still poor).

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 25 April 2005 08:59 (twenty years ago)

i can't sleep.

hstencil (hstencil), Monday, 25 April 2005 09:05 (twenty years ago)

i would liked to have come, maybe

i figured you would not be down, there's a conspicuous rolling bowling thread tho. now, mail me some Nyoik tips or summat...

$V£N! (blueski), Monday, 25 April 2005 09:11 (twenty years ago)

i decided to go get a couple of efes.

The joy of Efes! The International Supermarket in Walthamstow is my destination now, to fill up on this cheap, sweet nectar!
