More proof that the Japanese are odder/better than us:

Of course, training your dogs is only part of the fun. You'll also be able to take your dog for walks around the neighborhood, as well as to the park, for some playtime outdoors. You can also enter your pet in competitions, such as Frisbee-fetching, to compete for prize money that you can use to stock up on new toys, such as tennis balls and jump ropes; doggie accessories, like collars, sunglasses, and Afro wigs; and even brand-new canines altogether...

HAHAHAA you HAVE to see this in action:

I wanna see what the pug puppy looks like in an afro wig.

yeah... they've got advertisments in the trains for GAMEBOY. It costs something like 4400 or 4800 Yen. I guess it is something to do between bites of shredded cuttlefish on the way to school or work.

the game comes in three flavors, but all dogs are eventually unlockable on all versions. also, there are some hidden breeds to unlock, too.

We played with it for a little while at the Nintendo Store in NYC. They had the demo versions locked up so ou could only fiddle with it for 5 minutes at a time, I guess to keep kids from spending all day on it. Frankly the interface seemed a little hinky, but I suppose if you're only keeping one dog at a time then it might make more sense. The big ones always hog the attention!

What about when you have 3 on-screen at once, tho?

I'm thinking of getting a DS as a T.V substitute. Normally I read when Mr R is playing his Playstation but I can get pretty distracted.

I wonder if it would hold my attention. Mind you, they have all but sold out here by all accounts, rarer than hens teeth in the run-up to Christmas.
