Or would a dog eat you if you died?
or do canivorous animals eat each other if they get hungry enough?

I don't know why she wants to know this, but I was trying to promote ILE as the answer to all of lifes ills to her, so please help.

Yes, in cases where dogs have been abandoned in a room together they have eaten each other.

Why wouldn't your dog eat you?
We're made of meat, and after a while, we don't smell familiar

Dogs eat their own puke. A human corpse probably seems pretty tasty in comparison. Maybe this is why dogs are loyal: they stay close to their owners in the hope they'll die (the owners, that is).

No fronts.

Dogs won't eat other dogs if there are better alternatives around -- if there aren't, they'll go for it.

or do canivorous animals eat each other if they get hungry enough?

I would guess this to be true, humans have been known to do the same thing so I see no reason why dogs wouldn't.

The difference is humans make films moralising about it afterwards.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Thursday, 28 April 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

Yeah but dogs lick their own bollocks. which is the same thing.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 28 April 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

Fortean Times had a whole listing of dogs who have gnawed on their deceased masters. Like, some old dies at home, the schauzer's locked up inside with no Kibbles, and no Bits, so starts in on the thighs in a few days. Can't blame 'em, really.
