this guy got on the subway train wearing a shirt that read "BONO is GOD." Other clothes of note: a black baseball hat with an old-school Tampa Bay Bucaneers logo, mirrored cop shades, and thos like new-school rah-rah Nike "shox" shoes or something that have bouncy pogo heels.

It would have cool if it said "GOB is GOD"

Huk-L, Thursday, 28 April 2005 15:46 (twenty years ago)

i can see a reasonable argument for "BONO is GOOD" maybe. or "BONO thinks he's GOD."

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 28 April 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

Since when does Bill Gates ride the subway?

Huk-L, Thursday, 28 April 2005 15:48 (twenty years ago)

You should have fucked him up with a Sharpee and made it say BONG IS GOD.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 28 April 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

it was a black t-shirt, unfortunately, so no sharpie action.

this could be a general fashion-disaster thread.

bucco bruce = most questionable NFL logo of all time

Someone could write a really bitchin' blog entry about what the transition from the "ENO IS GOD" graffiti of the '70's to the "BONO IS GOD" t-shirt of the '00's says about how American culture has changed, but it won't be me.

I can't decide how sincere that post was.

ADAM CLAYTON IS GOD
THE FLOOD IS GOD
THAT KID ON THE COVER OF "WAR" IS GOD

people wrote "ENO is GOD"? that kinda bullshit is usually reserved for Clapton, Bono, and, well, God.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 28 April 2005 16:34 (twenty years ago)

"GONG is BONGO"

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 28 April 2005 16:41 (twenty years ago)

They had a certain flair, a panache if you will.

I saw a woman in her late twenties wearing an Oasis t-shirt on the subway a few weeks ago. OMGWTF

hstencil, you should have walked by the Key Area earlier this week when U2 played.

4 words: white trash Bono impersonators

donut debonair (donut), Thursday, 28 April 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

that's Key Arena... (haha, "Key Area")

well, i think they're playing in nyc soon? and have a new album out? i dunno, but ned would.

despite not liking u2, dudes in u2 shirts are okay. it's the dudes in the "BONO is GOD" shirts you have to look out for.
