Mandee, I know how you feel. I showed up to work wearing purple eyeshadow this winter and *everybody* felt the need to mention it. My reasoning for wearing it was that I was listening to Bowie the night before, therefore, needed some glam in my life. Meanwhile, I felt like an idiot.

Eh? Blue eyeshadow should look fine and pretty with hazel eyes. It's blue eyes it looks rotten with.

I have three different kinds of grey eyeshadow at the moment, perhaps because it matches my specs.

Should blue really look good with hazel? I have no idea what kinda crap to put on my eyelids. Ask me about blush and I'm an expert, but eyeshadow.. I just don't know. I need schooled.

Yeah but i've tried purple eyeshadow and it looks crap on me as well.

The only thing that seems to bring out the color of my eyes is to dress all in green - then people go MY, YOU ARE GREEN, AND YOUR EYES ARE, TOO, KINDA! WOW!

is it frosty blue? that can be a tricky one to pull off, and frosted shades are usually lighter which isn't good as pastel eyeshadow = dud. mac makes a couple of really nice matte blues, one turquoise (much less scary than it sounds) and one kind of bright royal. in either case, you have to wear a fair amount without fear and treat it as an accessory to complement the rest of your outfit.

I wore blue eye shadow last night! OK, it's sort of a dark turquoise sort of blue which matches my glasses. I think it's OK if it's all smudged in with eyeliner and stuff, but not good if it's just a sea of blueness around your eye sockets. Depends how one wears it.

How do you keep your eyeshadow from creasing into one line in the middle of your eye? I had this problem in high school--the last time I wore the stuff. Has the technology improved--I'd like to give it another try.

Ha ha, this is a problem for people who actually have, like EYELIDS and stuff. I have such deep set eyes that they fold away and I can just colour the bit under my eyebrows without any creases. I like being mutant weirdo sometimes.

Mary, you usually have to use some sort of de-creasing goo on your eye first before you apply eyeshadow to keep from getting that look.

I just remembered that I have some bright blue eyeshadow! I have never really worn it before because I have absolutely no idea how to wear eyeshadow. Do you just, like, put it on your whole eyelid? I don't actually know how to put on anything but eyeliner and I want to try on my blue eyeshadow NOW.

Apply it heavier on the lid and graduate up from there if you only have one colour to work with. Don't just put it heavy on the lid, that looks stupid.

I just tried on my blue eyeshadow, and I think that what it comes down to is that I just look bad in eyeshadow, the same way I look bad in lipstick. Is it possible to have a face that simply doesn't TAKE to makeup? When I wear it, I just look really creepy, like a zombie Barbie.

haha, zombie barbie... Yeah, I think some people just need to go really light on makeup, depending on skin tone mostly, maybe? I have pretty pale skin but with pinkish undertones, so just a little too much berry-coloured lipstick makes me look vampish, agh. And eye makeup, well, once I had someone ask me if I'd been in a fight, and I'd just used a bit of brown shadow (okay, so I was 18 and not super adept at it, but still.) I stick to mascara and lipgloss, sometimes some brown pencil on the corners of my eyes. I bought a palatte of pink and grey eyeshadow the other day and they look good, when appled lightly, of course.

I don't think I can do blue eyeshadow - reminds me of Western barbie with crazy winking eye - but it can look good when done well, on certain people, I suppose. But I'm now wanting to try green - though my eyes are green. Would this be a problem? Hm, I'm thinking no.

I would LOVE to wear green eyeshadow. But today's experiments with blue have thoroughly cemented the fact that the only makeup that looks good on me is smudgy black or grey eyeliner. I guess I thought the blue would look good since I have very dark brown eyes, but it just looks scary.
