computer help question for a friend

***: I've really screwed up my computer. I did a whole system restore. But I kept the old windows xp somehow and it tries to run it before it runs this new one. Also, my audio hardware is not working so I can't play any music. Any advice you can give me? I'm so computer un-savvy :-D

***: I had the irvs...whatever on my computer. a spyware program, so I installed hijackthis and got really annoyed b/c I could not delete the desktop.exe. So I went on a rampage and deleted EVERYTHING.

saucerpilot1947: ohhhh ok. hmmm, i would not know exactly what to tell you. were you trying to reinstall windows entirely then?

***: Well, not all the way.

saucerpilot1947: hmmmmmm damn, you might just ahve to get all your memory wiped clean and reinstall evrything again. hhow did you try to delete evrything, like where did you delete it from?

***: It shows files running. And I wiped it all out. setup.exe, ability to start applications, no pictures.
