Four years of utterly wasting your life. Four years you can never get back. Any "career" I've made for myself has had nothing to do with a lousy fucking degree or masters et al. In fact, people end up shocked when you mention you have one - often the same people that have been employing you!!

And Tony Blair wants MORE people in uni getting their worthless fucking 2.1 in Media Studies from former polys. YES, Go Tony!

Uhm... English isn't worthless surely? Maybe it is. Who knows anymore.

Czam, Monday, 2 May 2005 00:12 (twenty years ago)

Calum, you are living proof that the English are useless.

the bit of paper helps me get decent paying jobs. it doesn't have to do fuck all else (and it didn't).

i like college. i recommend everyone go to college. it's very depressing but there's libraries and free beer. all the time.

This thread topic is a bit heavy: I like it better when you're telling us about your latest boner.

estela (estela), Monday, 2 May 2005 00:15 (twenty years ago)

It hasn't helped me get a decent paying job yet (or my friends either for that matter).

P.S. I'm not English. Duh!

Czam, Monday, 2 May 2005 00:15 (twenty years ago)

oh, that should say there ARE libraries. i've learned something!

If you wanted to go to college to get a career then you are pretty fucking retarded for picking English as a major. Ask how many accounting, engineering or law students use their degree in their career and I would think the answer would be quite a lot.

webber (webber), Monday, 2 May 2005 00:16 (twenty years ago)

i wish i majored in english.

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Monday, 2 May 2005 00:17 (twenty years ago)

i transferred away from the local college i was in last year and now seem to have a great time whenever i come home

never under the illusion that liberal arts would be worth much on the jobs market tho

fcussen (Burger), Monday, 2 May 2005 00:17 (twenty years ago)

i'm under the illusion that liberal arts = FUN TIME

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Monday, 2 May 2005 00:18 (twenty years ago)

Calum, fucked if I care. All I know is that you're some unliked boring liberal arts twat with questionable taste in music and dullard fixation on pop culture!

my own mostly self-taught german was the only thing that's ever got me a non min. wage job

fcussen (Burger), Monday, 2 May 2005 00:21 (twenty years ago)

We need fewer unis and higher entrance standards. There - that's my two bits. I don't want thickos at uni.

Czam, Monday, 2 May 2005 00:21 (twenty years ago)

Ooh, you guys are ruthless with your scabrous swipes at Calum! Bet he's really smarting now! Go on, say "move to London!" or post a picture of Triple-H or something, or say "you're almost as much of a loser as Pete Doherty!", it'll be hilarious!

On second thoughts, don't.
