I had a dream last night I became a... Catholic!

I don't remember the context, but there I was, about the take the oath or whatnot. I don't remember any catechism or anything. At first I was excited but then a little voice called out "Andy, you're not catholic material! You're a protestant! The Reformation! Martin Luther! Simplicity, earthiness, not ritual, not grandeur!" And I felt great dread, then I awoke in relief.

I'm actually seeing an atheist right now, but it raised the question: would I switch for someone? I don't think I could.

Do not disturb the sediments.

Has there been recent sectarian violence on ILX?

twenty years pass...

a lot of UK Catholics/lapsed Catholics are quite deservedly the ripping the shit of these stupid performative fuckwits and also suggesting that from experience that no real priests impose ash like that (my own experience was just a smudge) and celebs request a darker hue of makeup-like ash so they can be stupid performative cunts for the rest of the day, lol but at least it's funny ripping into them.

I saw a few people with dark crosses this Ash Wednesday, maybe that's just how American Catholics are rolling since the new Pope is still too woke.

Italian Catholics are ripping into them as well.

Yeah that’s embarrassing poser shit

I think the ashes in the shape of a cross are a U.S. Catholic thing but certainly they’re never that dark it’s usually a grey smudge

yes I spotted several of them in the wild two afternoons ago, none as prominent and silly as thesse.

lol remember very clearly walking around with an ash cross on my head as a Catholic kid in the UK, looking back it was a bit odd yeah

Me too but it wasn’t like a fuckoff big temporary tattoo done in charcoal — as gyac says it was a little grey smudge

after sitting in my History teacher's house with her weird af husband for a few Sundays for First Confirmation lessons. A little smudge of ash on my head was no biggie in the weird stakes!
