I don't remember the context, but there I was, about the take the oath or whatnot. I don't remember any catechism or anything. At first I was excited but then a little voice called out "Andy, you're not catholic material! You're a protestant! The Reformation! Martin Luther! Simplicity, earthiness, not ritual, not grandeur!" And I felt great dread, then I awoke in relief.

I'm actually seeing an atheist right now, but it raised the question: would I switch for someone? I don't think I could.

a lot of UK Catholics/lapsed Catholics are quite deservedly the ripping the shit of these stupid performative fuckwits and also suggesting that from experience that no real priests impose ash like that (my own experience was just a smudge) and celebs request a darker hue of makeup-like ash so they can be stupid performative cunts for the rest of the day, lol but at least it's funny ripping into them.
