Problems as I see it:

No one will publicize this thing in the future for would-be time travellers if a real time-traveller (assuming a thing is possible) shows up. So if no one shows up, the record does not survive. And presumably people will take a lack of occurrence as a reason not to bother to preserve the record in the future.

So basically this entire thing depends upon the somewhat fuzzy proposition of the immeasurable collective will of people now, before the event, to try to preserve the record of this thing afterwards, regardless of outcome.

Which is quite a mindfuck.
