I have no idea, I used to think it was. However I will be in Italy for new year so i can a least report bakc on the chaos of the change over.

An a amusing little excerpt from the radio the other day during a report on Marks and spencer agreeing to accept the euro in the UK. The report went searching for a contrasting view they found a souvenir stall owner from essex, obviously expecting him to be both anti euro and ignorant.

interviewer: Will you accept the wuro as payment?

Trader: I'll accept anything, mate

Interviewer: how much is the euro worth

Trader: abaht 62 pence

Fivers are pink and therefore pretty. So sad. Maybe it's something to do with Queenie being on the front/back.

I love it. Sometimes I go to the bank and get all my cash changed to fivers.

the queen on the fiver almost looks like a warhol silk screen.

I will miss italian lire most of all, no more 1500 lire coffee, now 0.78 euros. And no more piddling smal change in notes, I love having big rolls of 1000 lire notes, almost worthless, but they made you feel wealthy.

IT IS JUST AN EXCUSE FOR THOSE EUROPEANS TO RIP OFF THE NON-EUROZONE obviouslousley.

We have been alerted by the British Embassy in Belgium to a few cases of minor fraud by taxi drivers in Brussels. During the changeover from Belgian francs to euros, some drivers with meters in euros have been noted trying to charge the euro amount in francs (e.g. calling 5.00 euro 500 Belgian francs – more than 100% more). There has also been some inventive rounding up when converting from euros to Belgian francs.

Who woulda thort, eh?? Eh???

A few months back I already started a thread on the Euro. So do I now find it a good idea - seeing how we only have a few more weeks to go? Uh NO.
