If I buy an adaptor and plug my laptop into it in another country can this be dangerous? I'm UK going to Europe.

Shouldn't be. Most devices now can adapt between 120/220 with tolerances for variations (i.e. 210). Where are you going?

Yeah, just double check the voltage readings on your laptop's power adapter (what Michael said), get the proper adapter plug and you'll be fine.

read the info on the power adapter, it'll tell you what it can take in terms of input and output. the one here i just checked says 100-240v which would be fine (america = 110, england = 230, ish)

Laptops are more or less designed to "travel" so I'm pretty sure it's ok. To be sure, check of course, but my parents live in Japan and bought their laptop in Belgium. Never had a problem.

cool, thanks. yeah it says input 100-240. yeeha... (omg it is such a gorgeous machine)

i went usa plugs to eu for four months daily with a cheap-looking adaptor and never had a problem. there was always a spark when i plugged it in, which seemed sketchy, but all seems okay

Emsk, you can plug whatever in it, but don't rub your body against it. ;-)
