Aw, man, and here I was hoping this would be a thread about composting. I made mine own compost today! Well, not really. I opened the big scary barrel in the back garden, and found that it was masses of grass clippings and stuff that had been in there so long they'd turned to mud. Once I drained the water off, they stopped smelling so bad, so I spread them out over my beanpatch, coz it, like, hasn't been growing so well. Read: at all. So I figured it needed some good compost.

I'm honoured that after four years on ILx I have finally managed to come up with a usable meme (chronologically, Luka was first with "don't try it"). But I'm confident that "full of Ronan" will have its day yet.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 5 May 2005 12:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i THINK i'LL TRY THIS MEME ON SOME OTHER Boards and see how it goes.

Look on the bright side kate, a pack of raTS CAMe on to our allotment and ate all of our compost heap.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 5 May 2005 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

When life gives you shit, make compost? And then rats eat it? I'm not liking this meme.

Lapdog Shoesnog (kate), Thursday, 5 May 2005 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

it's good, I'll be using it if you don't mind.

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 5 May 2005 12:47 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, that sounds really bizarre when you put it like that. Our compost heap consists of vegetable peelings and the like, not shit though!

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 5 May 2005 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Something is eating my rocket and I don't know what, but it's already popped up so I don't think I can spray shit on it or I will poison myself. I wonder if it's the aphids that are demolishing one of the trees or some awful catapillar beast. I need some bloody predators in my garden - where can I get some?

Lapdog Shoesnog (kate), Thursday, 5 May 2005 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

(Do vegetable clippings make good compost? My housemate juices everything in sight, so I might be able to persuade him to give me the choppings for my compost.)

Lapdog Shoesnog (kate), Thursday, 5 May 2005 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Stormylicious

Leon Federline (Ex Leon), Thursday, 5 May 2005 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

*elegantly* I do not believe you are quite ready...

NOTE TO PEOPLE WHO ARE LIKE I USED TO BE:

"rocket" means "arugula"

TOMBOT, Thursday, 5 May 2005 13:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the phrase "something is eating my rocket" though!

teeny (teeny), Thursday, 5 May 2005 13:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The first day we were in London @ Suzy & Ed's I just sat there pretending I wasn't totally confused for like 30 minutes after Suzy just casually pointed out that they grow their own rocket on the windowsill. I thought she must have been referring to some extremely bizarre strain of London psychotropic tokeable. Jetlagged.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 5 May 2005 13:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Vegetable clippings make excellent compost. Commence persuasion.
