mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 21:38 (twenty years ago)

Making a phone call to mum.

we are doing a visit to my sisters for the family day. i'm indifferent to the endless roll out of "special" days - but i'll participate cos i like my family.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 21:46 (twenty years ago)

A new thread already? WTF.

Trayce (trayce), Thursday, 5 May 2005 21:53 (twenty years ago)

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

i don't have the others jed :(

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:05 (twenty years ago)

I finally met kit last night! We talked about you, mully. Then I tried to play a gig, but the sound engineer was so whacked out we had to give up. He got fired that very night. And then kit generously gave us a lift home.

moley, Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:06 (twenty years ago)

kit drives???!!!

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:07 (twenty years ago)

is that anything like a zip drive?

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

is that like a zip code?

wossy like then? the ol' kitster.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:09 (twenty years ago)

well, he drives a zippy hatchback.

kit is a very nice person! Unsurprisingly.

moley, Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:10 (twenty years ago)

mully i have an mp3 for you - is that a real email addy? can it take 10mb?

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:11 (twenty years ago)

mully can take 10mb can't you mully? You can take it all, and then some. We don't call him grubby mully for nothing.

moley, Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:12 (twenty years ago)

jed i have a gmail it is for mullygrubber.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:54 (twenty years ago)

yes this thread is now unclean. new thread please!

*looks over shoulder for Ned*

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 22:57 (twenty years ago)

that vinyl thread is giving me the irrits

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:02 (twenty years ago)

i popped in and out VERY quickly.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:02 (twenty years ago)

that was definitely the shortest set I've ever seen performed

not the first time I've seen a support play longer than the headliner though. possibly not even the longest gap between support and headline, even with strangers being recruited from the pool table to try and rewire the entire on-stage set-up in an effort to outfox the soundy's incompetence!

the hatchback is my flatmate's. she doesn't have a driver's licence.

kit brash (kit brash), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:03 (twenty years ago)

did it expire? or is she a wishful thinker?

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:04 (twenty years ago)

and why is there no good gigs on tonight? i'd like to see the bites but i'm not paying $10 to have half of it go in treetops' pockets.

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:04 (twenty years ago)

when you are watching bands perform what do you DO? i mean most of the time its too loud to listen and thats worse if you've got to stand up. i mainly think random thoughts, look at girls bums, that kind of thing.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:09 (twenty years ago)

in the old days i would smoke. these days i drink and nod my head a bit

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:10 (twenty years ago)

sometimes i use the time to plan world domination

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

and also the girls bums thing

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

that was definitely the shortest set I've ever seen performed

have you seen smallcock kit?

do you fold your arms jim?

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

sometimes, but only if i don't have booze in hand

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

I tend to stare at the instruments. I don't bob about or appear to be enjoying myself. I wish I could but I end up as close to the stage as I can get, staring like a freak. Must be a bit frightening from the performers point of view.

Hey Glad Girls / Kate (papa november), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

if i'm enjoying the band i think about what i could appropriate for my own ends, if i'm not enjoying them i have all manner of sour grapes thoughts

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:15 (twenty years ago)

hmm that makes me sound like a cunt

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

I have seen Smallcock, at ten minutes he went for about 20 times as long as Moley!

Looked at some bums last night while waiting, but it was a goth club so there was more cleavage on display. I would have danced but I am about to go and get x-rayed to find out if I have a fractured rib or a bust lung and lots of movement hurts :(

(plus goth clubs apparently don't play much danceable music these days)

x-post Jim: her Ls expired a couple of years ago

kit brash (kit brash), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:22 (twenty years ago)

the last time i was at a goth club they played sisters of mercy, radiohead, and other things i couldn't stand

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

o yeah depeche mode

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

i like a nice sit down gig. a few tables, clear view of the geezer playing the spanish guitar, no crowds at the bar.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:27 (twenty years ago)

the last time I was at a goth club they probably played Sisters and Depeche and I would have been perfectly happy! but that was in 1994.

Radiohead can eat a limited-edition package of dicks

kit brash (kit brash), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:28 (twenty years ago)

Are you guys talking about "DJ Smallcock"? All I know is that he/she "remixed" a Noise Ramones track that I believe was on Psy-Harmonics, which would make sense for y'allz to be talking about him/her.

A homunculus of Darby Crash, .... created for the purposes of *EVIL* (ex machina, Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

i don't believe i have EVER been to a goth club. hi jon yes dj smallcock he runs dualpover.

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:31 (twenty years ago)

Me neither. I've been a lot of gay bars though.

Hey Glad Girls / Kate (papa november), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

there's a smallcock track on the dualplover comp i got recently. it were not great

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

heh funny typo

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

i've been to a lot of gay bars too kate!

mullygrubbr (bulbs), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:33 (twenty years ago)

Cool. I wasn't even trying to pick up! I don't know what I was doing there actually.

Hey Glad Girls / Kate (papa november), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:34 (twenty years ago)

The only time I can actually recall with any clarity was when they were playing a trancey remix of dreamweaver.

Hey Glad Girls / Kate (papa november), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

I try to dance, usually. you know what these melbourne indie kids are like, though.

haitch (haitch), Thursday, 5 May 2005 23:35 (twenty years ago)

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 May 2005 04:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm just a really good talker/convincer/bulldust artist in intreviews, somehow. I dont know how, but I can polish diamonds out of shit with my experience, it is really weird. I must be able to, somehow I've got all these jobs. Which always turn out to be way dumber than the people hiring you make out. I am astounded by the basic duhhness of some people Ive worked with. Cant properly use email or Word or that sort of thing.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 04:17 (twenty years ago)

At my last job a colleague needed a new version of Netscape, so I asked her to go to netscape.com

This is what she did:

1. Type 'yahoo.com' in the address bar
2. Waited for yahoo.com to load
3. Typed 'netscape.com' in the Yahoo search bar
4. Waited for the results to appear [first of which was netscape.com]
5. Turned to me and said "what now?"

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 May 2005 04:20 (twenty years ago)

OMG you have to send that to Rinkworks hahahahah!

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 04:27 (twenty years ago)

Jaysus H on a tricycle! Has anyone seen that promo thing for Chapelle Corby's trial? "Chapelle - the TRUE STORY" or some rubbish, with a huge shot of her teary distraught face.

FOR FUCKS SAKE, PEOPLE, GET ONE SENSITIVTY.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 11:15 (twenty years ago)

tv is really pissing me off at the moment

gem (trisk), Monday, 16 May 2005 11:24 (twenty years ago)

I got death stares in the staff kitchenette the other day for daring to suggest that it was POSSIBLE Ms Corby was guilty.
(NB I didn't say she was. I said this in the context of saying the mass media thing wasn't helping her case blah blah blah)

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 16 May 2005 12:23 (twenty years ago)

That secret marriage bullshit on ACA or Today Tonight or whatever it was was shocking. I mean, of what relevance is it anyway? She married some Japanese guy, and worked in a hostess bar. Big fucking deal.

Oh also....Happy Tuesday!

I walk along a thin line darling / Kate (papa november), Monday, 16 May 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

Kate up first again. Any Americans here? If so, would you do us the honour of starting a new thread? It's sort of a thing we've got going, to have special guest thread starters from the USA, same as we do for our music award nights.

moley, Monday, 16 May 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

my god I stop by once in a blue moon to stock up on clever quips and see this invitation.

how about:

a mongrel makes a goatlord (for gentle sheepfuxors to worship)

?

milton parker (Jon L), Monday, 16 May 2005 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Can we not keep starting new threads so often? It really doesnt seem neccesary :/

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

trayce seriously what difference does it make?

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:07 (twenty years ago)

thread-title conservation!

you guys are on a roll and I wuv you all, I will leave it to a resident to start the next one.

milton parker (Jon L), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:09 (twenty years ago)

i think it's nice to keep things fresh. i didn't know this one was due for a new thread already though

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:11 (twenty years ago)

Things I heard about Schapelle Corby:

1. Her family is known on the Gold Coast as drug-runners
2. That bloke who's trying to get her out has his own drug empire of some sort
3. Putting marijuana in a boogie board was an attempt to frame her, as revenge against her family
4. Australian marijuana is 500 times more valuable than Indonesian marijuana
5. Schapelle is a fucking stupid made-up bogan name

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:28 (twenty years ago)

but you're not logged in!

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:48 (twenty years ago)

i didn't know this one was due for a new thread already though

Thats just it, its only been like a week. I dunno, call me paranoid but I feel like some others on ILX will use it as more ammo to chuck at us, or.. somehting.

I dont know. Sorry, I didnt mean to sound rude. I had a WEIRD Jungian dream last night that upset me greatly and I feel a bit grumpy.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:53 (twenty years ago)

Things I heard about Schapelle Corby:

Heard around the water cooler by morons who read the Sun, kind of "heard"? Or read in decent media "heard"?

I was ambivalent about the whole thing until this whole baggage handlers shifting drugs domestically hoo-haa got blown open. I mean come on - isnt it now obvious that it was probably those guys, or guys like them (I bet its rife in the baggage/customs community) fucked up and stuffed weed into a bag they meant to go to, say, Sydney and not bali?

Who would take drugs INTO bali? wtf? Out of, sure maybe but into!?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:55 (twenty years ago)

Hello, I am in a rotten mood and I preemtively apologise if I act like an arrogant cunt today :/

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:56 (twenty years ago)

what a bastard of a thing it would be to do though, find out an enemy of yours was going to bali so you organise your mates down at the airport to stitch them right up..

shine headlights on me (electricsound), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:57 (twenty years ago)

call me paranoid but I feel like some others on ILX will use it as more ammo to chuck at us, or.. somehting.

Let 'em. Fucken killjoys.

I dont know. Sorry, I didnt mean to sound rude. I had a WEIRD Jungian dream last night that upset me greatly and I feel a bit grumpy.

omg details pls

Heard around the water cooler by morons who read the Sun, kind of "heard"? Or read in decent media "heard"?

First two came from my mother-in-law who lives there. I made up the third. Fourth came from someone I know who's involved with the police force and knows stuff about the value of drugs here versus abroad. Fifth is oddervious.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 May 2005 22:59 (twenty years ago)

What ammo do the other ILXors chuck at these threads? (I basically only READ these threads on ILE).

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:09 (twenty years ago)

Ah ok, interesting. I guess its possible her family are naty pasties, but perhaps she didnt know/wasnt involved and has been used.

S'all very Bangkok Hilton innit.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:09 (twenty years ago)

Edward: oh there have been numerous sarcastic comments from various (usually grumpy old-skool ILXers) who imply that we ramble on with irrelevant garbage, much like the this is the thread thing.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:10 (twenty years ago)

there have been numerous sarcastic comments from various (usually grumpy old-skool ILXers) who imply that we ramble on with irrelevant garbage

Would they prefer us to spread it out over 500 threads per week, or invade every second thread with our discussions? Instead of keeping it all inside one thread and minding our own fucking business? Curmudgeons.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

Yeah exactly. That was why Di started these to begin with =)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

Oh, that. Spam to them. Pillocks, etc.
Right. Is there anything fun on in Melbourne around the Queen's Birthday long weekend?

edward o (edwardo), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:26 (twenty years ago)

omg details pls

This is from me LJ post:

I dreamt I was dating a guy. This guy was strange - he had the manner and expressions of some kind of waite-rider tarot Fool, or wicked elf. It felt like he represented something bigger than just a guy I was seeing. Its a bit hard to put it all into words, but I recall being with him for some time, then him appearing one day with another girl and more or less rubbing it in my face mockingly that he was with this other girl, being a really arrogant bemused c**t about it. I was, of course, upset but tried to remain dignified to his face.

The next day/moment he came back, alone, and wanted to know, in a disappointed, almost sadly patronising manner, why I hadn't got more upset about the girl and fought for him, because actually he'd just done all that as a test, and I hadn't been up to the challenge or something.

I was *furious*. I hate it when people play stupid games like that, and I felt insane anger mixed with "but I love him" feelings.

Things then got strange, as he began to completely act the Fool, he was being rude to my parents, he was running around wherever we were naked and didn't care (and I was cringing in embarrasment). He was acting like an irritating teenage boy, all Jackass fuckface behaviour and immaturity. I was blisteringly angry at him for playing stupid games with me like this, and instead of wanting to try and reconcile that with the fact I supposedly cared about him, I lost it and decided he was a waste of time.

This dream really upsets me because of all the possible implications. I'm reasonably sure it hasn't anything to do with Nick (tho the naked-body part of the dream looked like him!), the boy in the dream was acting nothing like Nick. I'm pretty sure thats not it. The only other option, which I'm even more loath to accept, is that the irritating, immature partner whose stupid games I was totally fed up with...

...was me :(

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:26 (twenty years ago)

Woah, that's bizarre.

By way of contrast, my dream was about a TV antenna.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:28 (twenty years ago)

Is your new job insecurity/unhappiness the catalyst for this dream? It's important to analyse how you feel in dreams, rather than the symbology that might be apparent [I think anyway].

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

Possibly. Working with my best mate is hard, because he's acting like a bit of a twat on the odd occasion, which is fine when Im not around him all day long but I am here, and it is getting a little bit disapointing/irritating. So that could be one cause.

Also tho, I'm feeling paranoid that I myself have been immature, annoying and like my mind's divided on how to behave, etc. It feels like that message was more internal, you know?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

I wish I could go see a Jungian analyst. That'd be cool.

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:33 (twenty years ago)

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Monday, 16 May 2005 23:43 (twenty years ago)

Great dream Trayce. One to ponder!

This character sounds very tricksterish.

moley, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 00:00 (twenty years ago)

Trickster! Yes thats the word I was looking for - not the Fool, tho the archetype is similar in Jungian terms isnt it?

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 00:05 (twenty years ago)

Hmmmmmmm you got me there.

I would've always said that in the Tarot the Devil was the Trickster. But now you've got me thinking. Hmmmm.

Would you call this character in your dream more of a devil or more of a fool?

moley, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 00:11 (twenty years ago)

When you described the dream I was thinking of one of the Tibetan craqzy guru types, the ones who always, deliberately, try to get a rise out of you. Like the internet trolls of Tibetan Buddhism.

moley, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 00:13 (twenty years ago)

pleeeeze Trayce can we start a new thread. We'll call it 'Sheepfuxors discuss Jung in learned tones', or 'Mongrels admit they are crap office workers engaged in the mediocrity of irrelevant chit chat'. Whatever it takes. I know, I know, I should find a new name and log in and get a new email account etc. I will, I promise, but just not right now.

moley, Tuesday, 17 May 2005 00:18 (twenty years ago)

He was certainly a trickster - a sort of immature, naughty, bad boy, but also somewhat arrogant and patronising too.

Hahah yeah I guess it was kind of like a troll! =) My self was trolling me in my sleep!

Gah :/

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 00:19 (twenty years ago)

Oh ok ok start a new thread ;P

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 00:19 (twenty years ago)

Oh wait, you can't. I can't think of anything!

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 17 May 2005 00:21 (twenty years ago)
