do any of you make gifts for people around the holidays? or have gifts made for you? (esp. for the lurved ones/boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives.) do you prefer getting something handmade or is it all about the COLD HARD CONSUMER GOODS.

(nb: i fall somewhere in between the two.)

i'm making something which can only be described at this point (as its intended recipient is a sometimes lurker here) as "the box." i'll post pictures when it's all done.

Isabel makes things for me sometimes and I wuv them. I don't make things for people very often though. Which do I prefer? Depends who it's from.

If you do not spend lots of CASH on me you are barking up the wrong tree basically. Pasta necklaces and cards you have made on your PC are not very bling are they now? I want ICE.

I have not made anyone any presents since inflicting junior school art/craft lesson creations on parents and having them shoved into the back of wardrobes. Considering nobody even pretends I have any artistic talents these days, I think that's the way it'd better stay. I take about 3 years just to make a mix-tape, too, and then it's always rubbish, I'd never do them as actual presents.

I got an ace birthday card/gift/thing from a friend with a hand-drawn picture of Max from Sam and Max with emory board teeth that I could file my nails on once though. That rocked. But if you don't have a good idea for something you'd be good at making that they'd actually want then you're probably better off going to the shops in my book. Er. I dunno. I don't actually know why I'm posting this except to enthuse about my nail-filing Max.

A friend of mine always makes presents. This year she's making necklaces with wire and beads. She let me pick mine, ooh, it's pretty. I was going to sew a stuffed animal for my brother but don't have time so I'll probably buy him one instead.

I like both, as long as they're nice.

Hi All, :) We do a lot of baking as gifts, a lot of telephoning We have a huge dinner for those who want to stop by, and we send out a few certificates for dinners and make up a large food basket for our needy folks and that's about it.

I'm going to give my friend a Steven Reich-like composition I plan to make out of a snippet of her voice. Maybe I'll burn it onto CDR and present the disk to her as a conceptual pendulum for maximum artsy craftsiness.
