FT needs a facelift. Any ideas? Ethan's done me a lovely new colourful logo - but any bright notions as to layout etc?

It's really difficult to give any suggestions/recommendations etc. unless we were to see the new logo and your own ideas of what you wanted to do with the site design-wise.

Tom: Avoid "professionalism" at all costs. Pitchfork does okay, but BasementLife & NATN layouts just scream to me that they have less content than their designers know what to do with.

Something which would be nice - I dont have any graphics packages NB - is to colourise the old black and white record-player FT logo. I'm after bright shiny primary colours a la the Daft Punk and Playgroup albums.

I have comments about the main one, which are - I like it a lot, but I'm planning to drop the ".co.uk" bit from the logo at least, so it's just "Freaky Trigger" again. And I'm not sure about "We Write About Music" either.

Really awesome logos, ethan. Good job! Either FT logo would be a really nice starting off point for a new design.

The archived FT bizness (& t'ing) reminded me of how much I loved the comic-book layout used in the days of da ISSUES. Which is not to say that Tom should simply reuse it, but as others have suggested it's important not to lose the colourful fun component.

I have merely decent design skills, I think...I dunno, when I see some of the website design for certain blogs and fontsites, I think, Christ, why do I even bother?

I have to admit I'm sort of at a loss as to do with the FG V, tho' I plan on starting on it this weekend. (I'm FINALLY getting my furniture from IKEA on Friday.) (Oh, and expect FG results by the end of the year.) (Sorry for the delay...I just moved in to a new apartment.) (More info when epicharmus.com is resurrected.) (Which should happen once I get my PalmPix Camera for Christmas.) (I especially like the middle logo.) (It would look fantastic on a T- shirt.)

There are plenty of things (not FT, I hasten to add!) that deserve Mitch's description, though. I think it would have fitted very well to that bloody awful radio show "Collins and Maconie's Hit Parade" back in the Britpop era.

It's a cool logo, it will prolly get used a lot. Just remember to work out some kind of licensing thing with Tom "Bling bling" Ewing so you don't get screwed over the way the nike swoosh designer did.
