I remember seeing his "war trilogy" some time ago, in high school, and being mesmerized, especially by Ashes and Diamonds, and wondering if and when these would be released in some sort of decent domestic version. Fortunately, the Criterion Collection came correct and released it in a nice package deal. But what of his other films? Where to begin?
