Do you have weak moments when listening to the radio or something where you think "that's not so bad" about something you know you hate, and will hate later?

This happens me and I end up liking every song. Seems to happen at either end of my teen mood swings.

Well at least this shall get one new answer.

Ronan, Tuesday, 11 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yeah. that's probably because i still get "teen mood swings" @ the age of nearly 39.

duane, Tuesday, 11 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hey, you could be bald or impotent

Ronan, Tuesday, 11 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

yes, generally because i've declared my hatred of something and then people start going "oh but look how good this is" and i change my mind. once in awhile i end up liking them.

I never recognise the first 2 seconds of the current Starsailor and Stereophonics singles, and they sound like they're going somewhere mysterious and wonderful. Alas the actual song starts.

ronan i AM bald. you fucker.

duane, Wednesday, 12 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

duane, Wednesday, 12 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sorry, I didnt know. I kind of walked into that one. but hey you're not impotent.

Ronan, Wednesday, 12 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

(long embarrassed silence)

Graham, I have that problem with Muse singles. They start with great big noisebursts and I think, "Whoa, this sounds completely unlike anything I'd expect to hear on Radio 1 at this time of day!" and then PLOD PLOD PLOD clunk mneeeerrr WAIIIIIL arpeggio arpeggio BAWL I've plaaaaaayed in every toiiiiilet hur hur hur ARGH. Sl**p*r (fear of rule of threes) also had a knack for making the first 10 seconds of all their songs sound painfully much better than the next three minutes.

I believe once I was so lonesome and infatuated that a lonesome infatuated and deeply rubbish love song of precisely the kind I normally find so vile actually sounded really good. Mercifully I've forgotten exactly what it was. Plus the Lighthouse Family always put these dnb-style 2-steppin' beats in except 60bpm slower, which didn't actually make the songs sound any good, but at least it meant you could think about jungle instead of listening.

Rebecca the second paragraph is exactly what I meant at the top. I don't listen to the radio much cos I'll just be embarassed about what I end up humming along to.

Amd the worst thing about Muse is that absolutely everybody my age seems to like them. I was away in the summer with friends and there were like ten copies of the album playing simultaneously. Still at least I didn't have the video terror experience of looking at Matt Bellamys chicken shaped head. He reminds me of pinhead from hellraiser these days. I think someone inserted that comparison into my subconscious though.
