Today is special for me cos I asked someone I like to go to this blacktie ball thing I have to go to with me and she said yes.

No, it definitely isn't special.

I thought for one spooky minute that I'd gone to my first gig on the EXACT SAME DAY but it was a couple of weeks before.

No reason.

I was born 28 years ago today. Rather uneventful other than that. Going for sushi tonight. yum.

Well, let's see... I had three fillings replaced today. Got nice new tooth-colored ones. Now I'm more beautiful than ever.

That's not counting being dumped in the fingerpainting tent at Glastonbury twice in the mid-eighties. You may or may not be surprised to learn that I went to my second around 4 months ago today (Ladyfest Brighton).

And to think I used to wish I'd had hippies for parents, Graham ...

Now I'm just glad my parents always took me to Broadstairs.

Hmmm. . . bought 4 Rush albums and a Deep Purple double live album, got tickets for the electroacoustic festival starting tomorrow, my toilet flooded, something more special must have happened. Talked to a prospective new student, saw and talked to and lusted after girl who asked me if I wanted to go to a Jet Li movie a while ago, still felt high over being told that I'm handsome and GQ material yesterday, hmmm. . .

Oooh, I figured out what I'm giving my sister for Christmas and started earnestly working on making it. That would be it.

13th December is special for me because it's my Saint's day. I'm an aetheist, but tend to come over all sentimental at certain religious rituals and traditions (for example, some rousing hymns make my heart swell, even though I don't identify with the words being sung). I didn't realise the 13th was the festival of Santa Lucia until I lived in Italy, where it's quite a big thing. On this day five years ago, I walked the candlelit streets of Bergamo's Citta Alta, watched the kids run around in fancy dress (most were angels), ate free sweets that were left in bowls at the roadside and felt all warm and fuzzy.
