When I'm in the Hebrides in, say, July or August, my hay fever flicks on and off like a switch depending on the soil type I'm on. This may be partially psychosomatic; or it may indicate that I don't have much trouble from wind-born pollen.

I've not been troubled by much hay fever this year so far, but I'm a little bit snuffly and watery-eyed this morning, so maybe it all starts here. The worst thing for me is usually getting anywhere near the yellow fields of flowering rapeseed - terrible stuff.
The only tablets which stop the sneezing are Piriton but they knock me out cold and I sleep for about 12 hours straight and feel horribly groggy afterwards, so I seldom bother taking anything. Nasal irrigation with lukewarm saline solution helps a bit though.

I used to love Piriton liquid when I was little, because it was sooo sweet. The most reliable tablets for me were Triludan (terfenadine), but that's banned now and my stockpile ran out the other year.
(banned because it can lead to liver damage if you eat grapefruits or grapefruit juice whilst on it, apparently)

a lot of rain in spring brings something forth that hates me. it must grow on trees. ugh.

In the past week and a half the trees have been pouring out pollen in vast clouds on any of the warmer, sunnier days. It accumulates rapidly as a gritty powder. Wipe it away from an outdoor surface on those days and in 15 minutes you can feel the same grittiness. Which makes it all the more astounding to me that my body's reaction to this onslaught has been to shrug and say "eh". This is not normal for me, but I find it strange and wonderful. No telling what will happen when the various grass pollens rocket up in May/June, but I'm grateful for this unearned respite!

i try to have a tablespoon of local honey every morning. usually on my yogurt or oatmeal. you never know. it might make me invincible.
