why the fuck would we being doing that

anthony easton (anthony), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 04:40 (twenty years ago)

I hate Nicole Kidman, but I feel compelled to see this.

But on video! Fuck you, Nic, I'm not paying $12.75 to watch your apple headed bony ass, Skeletor.

luna (luna.c), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 04:55 (twenty years ago)

$12.75?! I wouldn't pay that much to see a bony headed apple ass.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 04:57 (twenty years ago)

Will Ferrell was on Lenoetterkimmelman or something last night, wearing a red suit, with a red shirt and red tie, with his hair all poofied up, and I swear to god he looked exactly like Tom Waits. It was very unsettling.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:06 (twenty years ago)

i like nicole kidman. i like will ferrell. this could be a pip.

N_RQ, Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:10 (twenty years ago)

I think I hate Nicole Kidman now

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:11 (twenty years ago)

Oh, Sammie .. you're a pi-hi-hip.

geyser muffler and a quarter (Dave225), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:12 (twenty years ago)

I would like to see this, it is probably a very bad idea.

Leon hearts Crazy Frog (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:14 (twenty years ago)

Nicole Kidman vs. Elizabeth Montgomery - no feckin' contest!

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:16 (twenty years ago)

I think whoever decided to cast Kidman was spot-on but the rest of it looks a bit meh and contrived in its meta-conceit of being a film about the remaking of the TV show. According to IMDB they DID ask Jim Carrey to play Darrin - the best possible person for the role - thought I can see the script premise turning him off.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:19 (twenty years ago)

*fans brow and loosens tie and collar*

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:23 (twenty years ago)

Steve Carrell should have played Derwood.

geyser muffler and a quarter (Dave225), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:26 (twenty years ago)

Oh, no wait - I mean UNcle Arthur.

geyser muffler and a quarter (Dave225), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

A good friend of mine really wants to rip off this movie's nuts and stuff them down its throat based solely on the trailer. He is INCENSED that they've ruined their one shot at a "Bewitched" movie by going meta.

I am amused at his vehemence.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

Actually I don't blame your mate. He probably knows who Rene Clair was, and that EM was a bit of an activist but much smarter with it than Jane Fonda. I was gonna say my aunt was the spit of EM but a quick compare and contrast shows my aunt to be an even better looking version of that archetype of blond woman.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:30 (twenty years ago)

She looked even better when she wore a black wig and played her cousin - yowzah!

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 12:32 (twenty years ago)

three weeks pass...
i really liked this movie!

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Saturday, 2 July 2005 09:21 (twenty years ago)

it wasnt bad
two movies in the top five right now are genre meta/deconstructions.

POMOAHOY

anthony easton (anthony), Saturday, 2 July 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

charlie kaufman, so much to answer for

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 3 July 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

Looks like he's answering for even more:

Strikes me as Eternal Sunshine light.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 3 July 2005 21:20 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
there are worse films out there, than this film.

N_RQ, Tuesday, 30 August 2005 10:43 (twenty years ago)

i have never seen a full episode of 'bewitched', though -- or 'starsky and hutch', for that matter.

N_RQ, Tuesday, 30 August 2005 10:44 (twenty years ago)

Are you suggesting that Starsky & Hutch is one of those worse films?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 10:46 (twenty years ago)

i guess i rank them equal. 's & h' was a disappointment; this was better than expected.

N_RQ, Tuesday, 30 August 2005 10:50 (twenty years ago)

some people say i look like me dad.

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 30 August 2005 10:55 (twenty years ago)

Not bad. NK's face lovely as ever. Some bits seemed strangely underpowered though, like the scene where he finally realises she's a witch after being thrown around on the broomstick. And the music was largely awful. V.clunky use of 'Won't Get Fooled Again'. And 'Everybody Hurts' for post-breakup bit? A bit of imagination, please! What was that song playing over the opening credits, though. I liked that.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 1 September 2005 19:24 (twenty years ago)

i thought it was brilliant. in fact, i laughed so hard that instead of slapping myself i slapped colette.
