Researchers Find Orgasm Gene

LONDON-June 8, 2005 — New research suggests that a woman's ability to achieve sexual climax is at least partly determined by her genes and can't be blamed entirely on cultural influences.

Scientists from St. Thomas' Hospital in London sent questionnaires to about 4,000 women who are part of the British twin registry. About half of them were identical twins and half were non-identical twins.

Researchers say the questionnaires revealed a significant genetic influence on the ability to reach orgasm.

Specialists say the findings don't mean women who inherit an unfortunate gene package are doomed. They just mean that more work, or patience, is required.

The study was reported this week in Biology Letters, a journal of the Royal Society, Britain's independent academy of science.

I have this image now of a bunch of white-coated guys high-fiving each other and doing a little "it's not our fa-ault" dance.

actually i think this will relieve people who feel its their "fault" for not being able to orgasm easily, or for not getting their partner to orgasm easily.

So when will they start splicing the orgasm gene into, like, corn?

Corn on the cob is messy enough, dude!

My ex-girlfriend will be happy to hear about this. The last time I saw her (a couple of years ago) she informed me that, "Nope, still haven't had an orgasm!"

Anybody who has dated more than one member of the same family will know this.

Anecdote, please.

At which point you did the "It wasn't my fault" dance.

i'm tempted to print this article out and send it to an ex, but i don't think it would be taken very well.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 18:15 (twenty years ago)

Because you never had orgasms with her?

Identical twins are so rad.
