i wasn't home "at around 8:52 pm" but by the end of this conversation i was apologising saying "yeah sorry i must have misdialed" just to get rid of this woman

I love how people think this is a good enough reason to be totally rude and accusatory, not even say their name when they call. Hello, I have a roommate (not to mention friends who drop by) who, shock, also uses the phone! Even better when they call and just say "Who is this?" What?! Someone's mother even did this too me once (she had call display), so it's not just an ignorance of youth thing. aagh. okay, done.

I've been getting wrong numbers on my cell lately and people are really indignant. They won't say who it is until I say my name and I'm all, "dude, YOU'RE calling ME, I have the telephone high ground!"

You're far too polite. If they ask who they've called, I ask "Who are you calling?" If they don't give me a straight answer ... click! (or "fold!" as it were.)

I've been getting wrong number calls for more than a year now from people looking for "Marty"...a couple times, they've started talking to me like they thought I was him! I should just play along next time.
